Discovering the Cherry Blossom Spot at Namji Waterfront Park

2026, 15th Term Changnyeong County Blog Reporter Lee Sang-hyun
With cherry blossom trees clustered together, the unique atmosphere felt like an island! This was my first impression of the cherry blossom spot I discovered at Namji Waterfront Park. I had observed it closely last year and decided to visit when it fully bloomed this year. Let me introduce it to you.
Namji Waterfront Park
Address: 607-3 Yongsan-ri, Namji-eup, Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam
Entrance Fee: Free
Parking: Available
To get to the cherry blossom spot, head up from the Namji Canola Field where the canola flower festival takes place. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the parking area, making it quite accessible.
Namji Waterfront Park is located along the Nakdong River, preserving its natural beauty and offering an open space for healing and relaxation.
Currently, the canola flowers are starting to bloom, and you can find fresh yellow flowers here as well.
While there aren't many, they are still nice to enjoy. Their rarity adds to their beauty.
Today’s destination is visible ahead. From the road, it looked like a cluster, but as I got closer, I felt a subtle change.
It’s a great place for walking or cycling. The Four Major Rivers bike path passes through here, so if you’re nearby, it’s a nice spot to take a break. The scenery is beautiful, peaceful, and there are restrooms and resting areas available.
Wow! The cherry blossoms were blooming beautifully.
All the trees seem to have been planted at the same time, as they are similar in height and size. They were blooming profusely, showcasing their beauty.
The fact that it's a lesser-known spot means you can enjoy it in peace.
It was perfect for setting up a tripod and taking photos, and the atmosphere made it a lovely place to fully experience spring.
There is a tall pine tree standing among the cherry blossoms, planted to commemorate the launch ceremony in 2013.
Cherry blossom trees are clustered around the pine, and benches are placed throughout the area. Personally, it seems like a great spot to bring a mat and some snacks for a picnic.
The shaded resting area was already occupied by others. I decided to leave my belongings on a chair and take a look towards the riverside.
A tranquil view of the Nakdong River awaited me. The cool breeze coming from the river and the drifting cherry blossom petals enhanced the ambiance.
It looks slightly different from afar. The cherry trees are not clustered but rather spaced out, which is advantageous for taking photos.
Spring at Namji Waterfront Park feels particularly special because of the cherry blossoms. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy spring without crowds, I think this hidden gem in Changnyeong is a great choice.
