Chuncheon Samaksan Mountain Cable Car & Unique Cafe Mason: A Day Trip You Won't Forget

Hello, it's Roini!
Doesn't the cool weather make you want to get away somewhere?
I recently took a quick weekday trip with my sisters to the Samaksan Mountain Cable Car in Chuncheon, and it was better than I expected.
It wasn't just about riding the cable car; the surrounding scenery and atmosphere made it a truly fulfilling day.
Especially thrilling was the cable car stretching over Lake Uiam, making you feel like you're flying through the sky. It was a truly healing experience.
I'll also share my experience visiting the wonderful Cafe Mason right next door.

Children: ₩18,000~₩22,000
Adults: ₩24,000~₩28,000

2. Why is the Cable Car so Popular?
The reason the Samaksan Mountain Cable Car is so famous is that it boasts the title of Korea's longest cable car at 3.61km.
Once you board and depart, it crosses Lake Uiam and extends to Samaksan Mountain, and the scenery is truly spectacular.
I can see why so many couples, families, and friends come here.
I chose a regular cabin because I was scared of the crystal cabin, but the regular cabins didn't have air conditioning, so it was a bit hot.
They gave us fans when we entered, and I was happy thinking Chuncheon was different, but there was a reason for that.
Still, I felt refreshed. I thought it would be a little scary, but I quickly got used to it and just enjoyed the scenery.
The view of Chuncheon city and the lake from the observatory was so breathtaking that I couldn't capture it all in photos.

Honestly, I was expecting a relaxing healing time, but it was more crowded than I thought.
The parking lot filled up quickly, and it took some time to find a spot. There was also a bit of a wait, so it's much easier to visit early in the morning when it's less crowded.
And most importantly, there are special cabins that allow pets! This is a huge advantage for pet owners.
Please note that access to the Skywalk trail is not allowed.

The solar power plant on Bungeo Island is also visible from above, offering a unique view.
The view of the Bukhan River from the top of Chuncheon Samaksan Mountain is amazing, isn't it?
From the cable car, it's about a 25-minute round trip to the summit along the walking trail, so for those who are good at hiking, it would be a real walk in the park.

3. Money-Saving Tips You Should Know
The Samaksan Mountain Cable Car can be a bit pricey at around ₩20,000 per adult for a round trip, but if you take advantage of discounts, it becomes much more affordable.
Chuncheon Resident Discount: Up to 45% discount with ID verification
Naver Reservation Discount: Save money by booking online in advance.
Credit Card Partnership Discount: Additional discount of around 10% when paying with certain cards (Nonghyup, Shinhan, KB, etc.)
I received a card discount at the ticket counter.
It's good to check these discount benefits when preparing for your trip.

4. Unique Cafe Mason
After getting off the cable car, I went to Cafe Mason, which is right next door.
The modern and sophisticated exterior immediately caught my eye.
From the outside, it looked like an elevator with metal decorations, but it was just part of the interior.
It was a bit of a hassle to order and take the drinks to the 2nd or 3rd floor.
That's because the drinks were huge and filled to the brim.
It was hard to carry all of our group's drinks.

Inside, the lake stretches out beyond the large windows.
I was able to fully enjoy the view while sipping my drink.
I ordered the signature Blueberry Latte, which was sweet and very satisfying.
The desserts were also of high quality.
Even on weekdays, it was a little crowded, but I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Chuncheon.

Although it was a bit chaotic due to the crowds, the Samaksan Mountain Cable Car was definitely a trip I would like to take again.
The scenery I saw while crossing Lake Uiam and the view of Chuncheon city and the mountains from the observatory were unforgettable.
I'd like to go again in the fall when the leaves change.
If you're planning a trip to Chuncheon, I confidently recommend the Samaksan Mountain Cable Car as a must-see course.
