Today, I'd like to introduce a great place to visit in Chilgok with kids, where you can enjoy a warm time even in cold weather.
The Waegwan Battlefield Memorial Hall is a place where you can learn about the history of the battles that took place in the Nakdong River area of Chilgok, Gyeongbuk, a fierce battleground during the Korean War.
Opposite the Waegwan Battlefield Memorial Hall, there was a large parking lot where free parking was available.
After parking, you can reach the exhibition hall right across the street.

The Waegwan Battlefield Memorial Hall, which I recommend as a place to visit with children in Chilgok, mainly has indoor attractions, but there are also quite a few things to see outside, which is great.
These include the O-1G, 40mm anti-aircraft gun, 76.2mm direct-fire gun, and 76.2mm howitzer.
These are equipment from various countries, including the United States and the Soviet Union, that were actually used in the Korean War. I think children will really like them.

I was also able to see a model that recreated the scene of the Waegwan Railroad Bridge being blown up to stop the North Korean army from crossing the Nakdong River on August 3, 1950.
The model was so elaborate that I could imagine the urgent situation at the time.
The Waegwan Battlefield Memorial Hall also shows the provocative acts of North Korea that have continued since the Korean War, so it feels like a proper security education.
There are also weapons that were actually used by the North Korean army.
I expect that children will especially like this, as it is an unusual sight to see.
It was also interesting to see actual North Korean items such as North Korean currency, cigarettes, and mail.
The two countries, which are still on armistice rather than a peace treaty, are wary of each other.
It's ironic that they are ultimately objects of integration, separated from one root.
In addition, there were various things to see, such as North Korean culture and lifestyles, and it was meaningful to be able to compare the differences between the North Korean and South Korean armies.
It was also somewhat proud to see the development of our country, which has overcome the pain of division and stood tall as a global advanced country.
The Waegwan Battlefield Memorial Hall also has a photo zone where you can take fun pictures, so it's a good idea to take a shot!
