When the autumn breeze gently brushes past your shoulder, your heart invariably wanders out for a stroll.

This time, my footsteps followed the yellow ginkgo leaves towards the forests of Ulsan.

Jadeurak? A 'Joyful Forest' Offered by Nature

The uniquely named 'Jadeurak Forest'.

It sounds like an alien language at first, but once you know the meaning, you can't help but feel a fondness for it.

This forest, created within Ulsan Hwarang Sports Park as a space for walks filled with 'joy (樂) given by nature,' is the perfect place for a light picnic.

What I liked most was that it wasn't crowded and was very peaceful!

A Walking Path Where You Play and Stroll, a Place Where Everyone Becomes a Child

Park near the Hwarang Sports Park, close to the yellow ginkgo trees and pine nut tree forest.

In summer, the purple kudzu flowers tickle your nose, and the blue fir groves calm the forest.

After passing through the spacious parking lot with electric vehicle charging stations, crossing the 'Jadeurak Bridge' marks the beginning of your forest picnic.

As you cross Jadeurak Bridge, you'll find the 'Jadeurak Forest Playground,' where children come with their parents for picnics.

This area has a weight limit, so it's a space for children. Adults who are light might want to give it a try!

Climbing the slope while stepping on fallen leaves, you'll come across a colorful 'combination play structure'.

This isn't just a space for children. There's a tube slide, log ropeway, and a swaying net bridge! My high school classmates and I giggled like girls, each returning to our childhood. It's an imaginary playground where Alice from 'Alice in Wonderland' might play.

There are picnic-friendly pavilions, shelters under the trees, and trails of colorful flowers, cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, and oak trees. It was a place where all four seasons reside.

Hello! Yellow Ginkgo Trees~

Ginkgo trees surround Jadeurak Forest and Hwarang Sports Park.

Some ginkgo trees seemed to have forgotten the season and were still green, while others waved with bright yellow leaves, and still others had already shed all their leaves, preparing for winter.

I thought the trees were like us humans. Each living in their own time, shining in their own way. I came to find yellow ginkgo leaves and left with many realizations.

Ulju Guryang-ri Ginkgo Tree, the Years that Became a Tree

Speaking of ginkgo trees, you can't leave out the Ulju Guryang-ri Ginkgo Tree, a treasure of Ulsan.

Guryang-ri is just a short drive from Jadeurak Forest.

Standing tall in the middle of a rice paddy, as if guarding the village, its appearance is truly majestic.

A different, unknown emotion washes over you when you approach it compared to when you look at it from afar. A sense of awe! There's something that can't be explained in photos, so be sure to visit!

600 years old, 22m tall, 12m in circumference.

Scars filled with cement and supports holding up the branches, the years were engraved on the tree's body.

Just being alive in that spot, its very existence felt like a miracle. Just looking at it made my heart feel humbled, it's a ginkgo tree like a truly grateful elder.

Autumn, the Ginkgo Leaf Outing Continues

Ulsan has many famous ginkgo tree spots.

But the tranquility of Jadeurak Forest, the small happiness of having a playground and rest area together, is very special. It feels like receiving a gift of a pure, childlike day.

And I made unforgettable memories with the profound emotion I felt in front of the Guryang-ri Ginkgo Tree.

Even if you missed the yellow scenery this year, it's okay.

Nature waits for us every year.

Next year, in the same spot, it will wave its yellow leaves and meet us again.

On that day, pack a lunch and go on a picnic to the 'Joyful Forest' again, laughing together, adults and children alike.
