A Spring Stroll Under Cherry Blossoms at Jeonju Zoo

As the warm spring breeze begins to blow, our hearts flutter with excitement, right? The first place that comes to mind when we think of cherry blossoms in Jeonju is Jeonju Zoo. Let me share my experience of healing under the fully bloomed cherry blossoms this past weekend.
Jeonju Zoo is located at 68 Sori-ro, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. It is conveniently close to Jeonju Interchange (IC), making it easily accessible for visitors from other regions. Opened in 1978, this zoo boasts a long history and serves as a massive garden in the heart of the city, beyond just being a simple zoo.
Especially, the cherry blossom path in Jeonju Zoo is a must-see, with decades-old cherry trees forming a beautiful tunnel. It is a prime spot that attracts visitors from all over the country, not just from Jeonju.
On Sunday morning, we hurriedly set out early to secure a good parking spot, as I had heard rumors about the fierce parking competition during cherry blossom season. When we arrived around 9:30 AM, the parking lot was quite spacious, allowing us to park comfortably near the entrance and enter with light steps.
However, by the time we finished our enjoyable visit around 10:30 AM, the large parking lot was already full. Seeing cars lined up along the roadside confirmed that arriving early was indeed a wise choice.
Inside the zoo, it was relatively calm and not crowded, likely due to the early hour. However, one surprising point was that the picnic areas and benches were already filled with early birds. If you plan to have a picnic, arriving right when the zoo opens is essential to secure a prime spot.
While there are many cherry blossom spots, Jeonju Zoo has its unique charm. The first is the 'cherry blossom tunnel,' where giant cherry trees arch over the walking path, creating a pink canopy that obscures the sky. The sight of flower petals falling like rain when the wind blows is truly breathtaking.
The second charm is the encounter with animals. While enjoying the cherry blossoms, you can turn your head and meet animal friends like tigers, lions, and elephants. It's perfect for visiting with children or enjoying a unique date with a partner.
The third is the retro vibe. The Ferris wheel at the 'Dreamland' amusement park within the zoo, combined with the cherry blossoms, looks like a scene from a movie. Taking photos here guarantees stunning shots.
As soon as I entered the zoo, I was amazed by the display of cherry blossoms. This year, the blossoms were particularly vibrant and beautiful. In addition to the cherry blossoms, tulips were also in full bloom.
As I walked slowly and looked up, the cherry petals shimmering in the sunlight were so beautiful that I found myself staring for a long time. Thanks to arriving early, I could take photos without being pushed by crowds. The 30 photos I prepared were insufficient, as every corner was a photo zone.
The animals seemed to enjoy the warm spring sunshine, appearing more lively than usual. Watching an animal take a nap under the cherry tree made me feel as if all the peace in the world was gathered there, cleansing my heart.
Although I couldn't find a place to sit and had to keep walking, the density of the cherry blossoms was so overwhelming that I forgot about the fatigue in my feet. The satisfaction of strolling for about an hour and leaving the parking lot was immense! I highly recommend visiting around 9 AM for those who want to enjoy the blossoms leisurely without the hustle of crowds.
Experiencing the spring of Jeonju at Jeonju Zoo during cherry blossom season was truly special! This fleeting beauty made the time spent even more precious.
This weekend, why not pack a light lunch and head to Jeonju Zoo with family or a loved one? Although finding a deck spot may be competitive, the pink world unfolding before your eyes will surely make for a happy spring day.
I hope you create unforgettable cherry blossom memories at Jeonju Zoo this spring!
