A Quick Getaway to Pohang: 1 Night, 2 Days of Food and Fun

August 15, 2025 - August 16, 2025
1 Night, 2 Day Trip
Songdo Raw Fish Restaurant - Songdo Beach - Pohang Museum of Steel Art - Space Walk - Arrangement Cafe - Igari Anchor Observatory - Jukdo Market - Accommodation
Evenings are pleasantly cool.
Traveling by car.
Igari Anchor Observatory Parking - Jukdo Market Parking
It takes about 30-40 minutes from Igari Anchor Observatory parking to Jukdo Market.
It takes 15 minutes from Jukdo Market to the accommodation.
Tip: Use the public parking lot by searching for "Jukdo Market Public Parking" in your GPS navigation.
It's a separate building unrelated to the market vendors, so no parking tickets are given/needed.
The public parking is relatively inexpensive (hybrid car discount may apply).
We debated about what to eat for dinner.
We decided to buy fresh fish from Jukdo Market and enjoy it comfortably at our accommodation.
However, it was so dark... it seemed like nothing was open.
Most places close early in the evening.
Only raw fish restaurants, snow crab restaurants, or dried seafood shops were open for dinner.
We were very surprised that even the hotteok (Korean pancake) and street food stalls were closed.
The snow crab sets looked good, and most places were charging 100,000 won for two people.
But since my boyfriend doesn't really like shellfish, we decided to just buy sliced raw fish, which we both enjoy.
We were too late to find the street food area open. It's located opposite the snow crab center.
Our plan to buy snacks along with the fish fell through.
We looked around for a while to decide which raw fish restaurant to buy from.
We chose a place next to the snow crab center that mainly sells raw fish and also has its own restaurant, with a lot of customers.
They said 30,000 won would be enough for two people, so we asked for a mix of rockfish and flounder.
About one rockfish and two or three small flounders.
They sliced the fish right in front of us! lol
Since we were eating at our accommodation and it wasn't a pension, they gave us a set of chopsticks, wasabi, and red chili paste for 1,000 won.
This is how much raw fish we got.
It was quite a lot more than we expected.
It felt like more than what we had in Jeju Island.
The fish was so fresh, the taste was clean and chewy.
It was a good deal for the price!
Of course, raw fish alone wasn't enough, so we bought chicken from KFC right next to our accommodation lol.
I bought a new type of kiwi drink from the convenience store to try.
It tasted so bad that I mixed it with Coke and ended up with a hangover...
Since we were only going to sleep there, we chose Gray Motel, which is the cleanest and most cost-effective in downtown Pohang.
Clean bedding, clean bathroom, Netflix available.
The parking lot is small, but if there are no parking spaces, you can park for free at the intercity bus terminal parking lot across the street.
(It says it's a paid parking lot, but when you leave in the morning, just tell the parking attendant that you're from Gray Motel.)
Above all, I liked that the bathroom was spacious and clean.
The water pressure was good, there were no bugs, and they even gave us disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste, so we didn't have to bring any from home.
I thought it would be expensive because it was a weekend with a holiday on the 15th and 16th, but we paid around 50,000 won per night, which is a great value for a clean place to stay!
The owner was very friendly too! ♪(´▽`)
Jukdo Market public parking is 500 won for every 20 minutes.
It's relatively inexpensive, and you can pre-pay for parking without a ticket.
Jukdo Market is good for buying raw fish and eating snow crab, but if you want to look around at other things, it's best to visit during the day!
