A Day Trip to Nijimori Studio: Experience Japan Near Seoul

Trip Date: September 14, 2025
Nestled in Gyeonggi-do, near Seoul, Nijimori Studio offers a unique experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in Japanese culture without leaving the country. I recently visited this fascinating place with my boyfriend in September, as autumn began to paint the landscape.
Located in Dongducheon, Nijimori Studio is easily accessible from Seoul, even without a car. This makes it an ideal destination for those seeking a day trip from the city.
From the moment you enter the road leading to Nijimori Studio, you'll be captivated by its unique ambiance. Passing through the ticket booth, you'll find yourself in a space that resembles a traditional Japanese countryside village.
People dressed in kimonos and yukatas stroll along the streets, Japanese lanterns adorn the shops, and wisteria decorations hang overhead, creating an exotic and authentic atmosphere.
Important Note: Every Thursday and Friday are designated as 'LOVE DAY,' during which minors under the age of 19 are not permitted entry.
(Couples visiting on Love Day can receive a 30% discount on Nijimori Ryokan accommodations.)
Leaflets detail couple-oriented activities such as the 'Love Bingo Game,' where couples complete small missions together, and the '4 Sense Experience,' an engaging sensory activity.
From Saturday to Wednesday, it's 'Family Day,' welcoming visitors of all ages, including pets.
A key point to remember is that outside food is not allowed inside Nijimori Studio.
Initially, I planned to bring snacks, but I discovered that outside food was prohibited. However, the studio boasts various Japanese-themed food stalls, so I wasn't disappointed. From takoyaki and karaage to Japanese beer, there's a wide selection available for purchase and enjoyment within the grounds.
For couples, enjoying a beer while strolling through the streets is a delightful experience. Families with children can indulge in various snacks as a cultural immersion.
We began our exploration of Nijimori Studio. The ponds, bridges, red-tiled roofs, and Japanese buildings created a picturesque scene, enhanced by the autumn sunlight.

The reflections of the buildings and the clear blue sky in the pond provided perfect photo opportunities.
The traditional ryokan-style buildings, the gardens blending with the blue sky, and the various Japanese props scattered throughout created the illusion of being on a genuine trip to Japan. Even simply taking photos feels like being in Japan.

Walking along the path lined with red torii gates leads to Jeongae Garden, which also features an archery range.
A walk through Jeongae Garden evoked scenes from the movie Princess Mononoke.
Nijimori Studio in Dongducheon offers a taste of Japan without the need for a long journey.

If you're visiting as a couple, consider going on Love Day to take advantage of discounts and enjoy the Love Bingo & 4 Sense Experience. Families should plan their visit on Family Day to enjoy the studio with children.
Its proximity to Seoul makes it ideal for a day trip or weekend getaway. Each season offers a different charm, making it a great travel destination any time of year.
