A Day of Heritage, Art, and Royal Palaces: Exploring Seoul with the Visitor Passport

I recently applied for and received the Visitor Passport.
While following the designated monthly or themed courses is fun, the events are quite frequent and substantial, and the quality of the distributed merchandise is also very good.
Then, I discovered:

An Uigwe Keyring!
That Uigwe Keyring that I only heard was being given out at InGong... it appeared!
Just visit with your Visitor Passport to get it.
As soon as I saw it, I immediately made a reservation and waited for the day to arrive.
Heritage: The Future Fantasy
Dates: 2025-08-23 ~ 2025-09-17
Location: Museum 2nd Floor, Exhibition Hall 2 & Design Trail B
Time: 10:00~20:00 (Last admission at 19:00, Closed on Mondays)
Free Admission
It's listed as DDP Museum Exhibition Hall 2 and Design Trail B, but you can enter the building marked with "M" from Exit 1 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station and go up to the 2nd floor.
Anyway, I aimed for the 10 AM opening, but was about 5 minutes late and got lost for another 5 minutes, so...
When I got to the 2nd floor,
I saw a sign as soon as I got off the elevator.
If you go to the entrance, right next to the ticket registration center was the line for receiving the Uigwe Keyring. People were already lined up.
Everyone was there for the Uigwe Keyring!
I got a small stamp on the Suwon Hwaseong page, received confirmation, and got my Uigwe Keyring!

There were two colors, blue and red,
I also pondered a lot before choosing red.
Everyone in front of me was choosing blue!
Both red and blue are absolutely gorgeous, I must say!
If you made a reservation in advance, you would get a sticker pack.
I forgot where I made the reservation, so I just got a ticket on the spot.
I remembered I used Ticketlink after I got home... sigh.
On-site registration is available right away, so if you haven't done it, you can do it on-site.
You also get the sticker pack if you upload on social media and show it to the staff.
Don't miss out!

Exhibition Entrance
So fascinating!
One slightly disappointing thing was that the explanations were quite lacking.
I didn't know what I was looking at...
Section 1 was a media exhibition about Uigwe.
Looking it up, it seemed to be a digital exhibition from the Suwon Hwaseong Museum.
But it was so interesting and fun that I saw it all the way through.

It's a digital exhibition about the funeral of King Jeongjo and the Jongmyo Jerye, and the content about history and national heritage that I didn't know about was presented in a really easy and interesting way.
Personally, I felt it was a chance to learn about the significance of this format and the power and national strength of the entities involved.
I felt strangely proud and fulfilled.
It was fun.
The next exhibition was a media art using mother-of-pearl light.
This exhibition hall was just beautiful.
Next was media art related to artisans.
I spent quite a while here too.

It was quite refreshing because it was a space that combined the artisan's crafts, the process of creating those works, and modern media art.
On the way to the next space,
They decorated it by combining Hanji crafts and media art, which was also very refreshing.
Isn't it hip?
Or not...
Moving on,
It's a space where cultural heritage and intangible heritage are reinterpreted with 3D and media technology.
Dancers performing modern dance against the backdrop of our cultural heritage, or floating flower petals on the floor against that background...
It was a meaningful and beautiful space.
The planning was more innovative than I expected,
And there are many cases where the satisfaction level drops when going to digital exhibitions that cost tens of thousands of won, but this one was small but fun.
In the middle, there was an exhibition space where you could experience flowers blooming on the screen when you placed a vase.
The last exhibition featured installation art where the sound of a bell or the light of a prism was reflected depending on the movement of the waterway and the steel ball.
Personally, I didn't understand the meaning, so I moved further away from modern art...
Some people who watched quickly said they spent about 30 minutes.
I think I spent about an hour and 20 minutes.
Maybe it's because it was my first time seeing an exhibition about national cultural heritage,
There were so many amazing things and it was a new experience, so it was a lot of fun.
It's free, so everyone should go see it! Highly recommended!!
I also looked at the small selection of goods set up at the exit.
It seemed like they brought popular products.
There were Gat (traditional Korean hat) and tiger and magpie keyrings, and all the things I usually wanted to have, such as moon jar keyrings, incense holders, and Gat cups...ㅠㅠㅠ
I was agonizing over the folk painting color-changing small liquor cup and the dragon robe cup (I think I went around in circles 10 times by myself),
I boldly brought home a set of 3 dragon robe cups. I'll use them with the heart of a king!!!!
The price was a bit high, so I gave up on the fan,
But as you'll see later, I regretted giving up on the fan infinitely...
Anyway, I also became a person with +1 goodie!
I want to work hard and become a person who sweeps up all the goods...
I enjoyed looking around,
Went down to the basement, looked at the hanging flowers decorated on the trail next to the Tom Sachs exhibition, and moved to the next destination.
Since I had the Visitor Passport with me anyway,
I decided to go to Jongmyo > Changgyeonggung > Changdeokgung in order to take a stamp tour.
If you take bus number 7212 from the DDP entrance bus stop,
You can go to Jongno 4-ga/Jongmyo Station at once.
It was a very clear, sunny, and very hot day.
Jongmyo Shrine
157, Jong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
9 AM to 6 PM (different by period, such as 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, etc.)
5 minutes on foot from Exit 7 or 11 of Jongno 3-ga Station
Bus stop is Jongno 4-ga/Jongmyo
General free viewing on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and Culture Day
Guided viewing by time (guided tour, 1-hour tour) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
Closed on Tuesdays
Admission fee: 1,000 won
Even though I had passed by here countless times,
Even though I had been to all the other palaces,
I had never been to Jongmyo.
Or maybe I went when I was very young?
Anyway, I'm the kind of person who came to Jongmyo in this scorching heat.
On weekdays, you have to match the time because it's a timed tour,
But on weekends, you can just buy a ticket and enter for free viewing.
The stamp is at the main gate entrance,
It's at the information center! It's set up on the side.
Since I'm doing a free tour today,
I'm starting my tour with the Jongmyo digital commentary.
Jongmyo was so wide
+ Very amazing, wide, amazing
+ Wow..............???? Hot
Collaboration of
From this point on, I started regretting not buying the fan.
Most of what I knew about Jongmyo was unknown,
But my understanding improved greatly as I listened to the commentary,
And I liked that the commentary wasn't long, less than 10 minutes.
I only used to go to historical sites in other countries,
It was so nice to see our country's historical sites after a long time.
Very cool.
Surrounded by lush trees,
It felt like I was in a forest,
If you sit still, the wind blows and it's cool.
I think I looked around Jongmyo faster than I thought,
But I still listened to the commentary and moved around,
I walked around saying that the tree walk was good,
I think I saw it for about 40 minutes.
On weekends and holidays, you can go directly to Changgyeonggung through the Jongmyo Buksinmun Gate.
The opposite is also possible (go directly from Changgyeonggung to Jongmyo)
Buksinmun Gate Opening (Yulgok-ro Entrance)
Open only on weekends, holidays, and Culture Day (last Wednesday of every month)
Climb straight up the road next to Yeongnyeongjeon
(Location can be checked on Daum and Naver maps)
Buy tickets for the place you want to visit at the unmanned ticket machine installed in the middle of the Buksinmun Gate entrance.
OR you can move to Hyehwa or Anguk Station via Yulgok-ro.
Personally, I think
If I didn't go to Changgyeonggung at this time and just went to Anguk,
I might have consumed a little less energy...
Why did I have to go through it?
I'll have another chance to go to Changgyeonggung anywayㅠㅠㅠ
But I have to look around properly.
Changgyeonggung Palace
185, Changgyeonggung-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
9 AM to 9 PM
Non-open areas at night
The Grand Greenhouse is operating with limited opening periods
(No limited opening in August)
Closed on Mondays
Admission fee: 1,000 won
I used to really like Changgyeonggung,
I used to go there heartbroken and walk endlessly,
Aside from feeling nostalgic,
It made me power-drink Pocari Sweat because it was so hot.
Everyone was sweating while looking around Changgyeonggung,
Personally, I really wanted to go to the Grand Greenhouse.
After reading the 'Grand Greenhouse Repair Report' earlier this year,
I was really impressed by the Changgyeonggung Grand Greenhouse.
Yes... it's so hot that no one is there.
I looked around as if I had rented the whole place by myself.
Even though the size is really small, there seem to be quite a few plants.
Everyone's condition is okay, so it's worth seeing even if it's small.
But I can't see it for long because it's so hotㅠㅠ
It's a Western-style glass greenhouse in a palace,
It's very exotic and slightly heterogeneous at the same time.
If you think about the historical meaning, it's a space that you can't just like because it's pretty,
But it is pretty.
If you read the Grand Greenhouse Repair Report,
You feel like the story in the novel comes alive,
Personally, I was a little more impressed.
Now that I've looked around the Grand Greenhouse, I'm going to my final destination,
Changdeokgung Palace.
You can go from Changgyeonggung to Changdeokgung through Hamyangmun Gate.
(Shown on Daum and Naver maps)
Just like before, buy a Changdeokgung ticket at Hamyangmun Gate.
This is a manned ticketing system.
Changdeokgung Palace
99, Yulgok-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
9 AM to 6 PM (different by month, such as 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, etc.)
Secret Garden requires separate ticketing and reservation (on-site ticketing is also possible)
Admission fee: 3,000 won
Closed on Mondays
Buy a Changdeokgung ticket and enter through Hamyangmun Gate.
I wish I could have gone to Gyeongbokgung Palace because it wasn't hot.
I should buy an integrated ticket before October and go to the Secret Garden.
There are a lot of Secret Garden tickets left because it's so hot now,
But it's said to be a bloodbath when the weather is nice. Secret GardenㅠㅠI'll look forward to next time.
I decided to take a lap around the main building!
It's been a really long time since I've been to Changdeokgung.
It's definitely more magnificent and worth seeing,
And this spectacle of seeing Namsan Mountain together.

Do you know how wonderful it is?
But it was so hot that I took a short look around and left.
It was really baking hot.
The Visitor Passport stamp is
At the Changdeokgung main gate ticket office (main gate 'Sarang' Cafe)
OR Changdeokgung's Cafe 'Sarang'.
If you went through Hamyangmun Gate, you can take it at Cafe 'Sarang' in the palace.

There's a goods shelf right next to the entrance!
With this, I finished the stamp & national heritage tour, breaking through the 35-degree heat.
I'm also doing the 'Let's! Try 365' mission like an idiot.
I went all the way to the palace and didn't take a mission photo, so I have to go to the palace again by September LOL
I just think of it as a big picture for my future....
Sigh
I started at 10 AM,
The tour ended at 2:30 PM,
But I saw that the line for Run Bagle packaging was short, so I finished packaging Run Bagle.
It's been a while since I've been to Run Bagle.
There are a lot of people, but it's half the size of what it used to be,
I waited for about 15 minutes and went straight in for packaging.
I think there are fewer people in this neighborhood because it's so hot.
If you want to see a less crowded Anguk-dong,
You can go now (wink)
But I almost got heatstroke...
Anyway, the stamp tour was fun!
