Ikseon-dong is a charming area in Jongno, Seoul, known for its narrow alleys lined with traditional Hanok houses and low-rise buildings, creating a picturesque landscape.
I personally enjoy visiting Ikseon-dong, having frequented a noodle shop there long before it became popular.
Today, it has transformed into a major tourist destination, attracting not only locals but also many foreigners.
During my visit, I stopped by "Odang Ikseon," a renowned restaurant in Ikseon-dong known for its Japanese cuisine.
The restaurant is housed in a traditional Hanok, with a menu board outside for tourists and guests to check before entering. Inside, the restaurant beautifully preserves the Hanok structure, offering a distinctly Korean ambiance.
Each table is equipped with a tablet for easy ordering, which I found quite convenient. There are also bar tables by the window, perfect for casual conversations.
Odang Ikseon is spacious, accommodating various gatherings, whether it's a meeting, a date, or a casual get-together.
During lunch, many guests seem to order sushi, while in the evening, the restaurant is popular for gatherings like wedding invitations and other events.
The atmosphere is delightful, and I noticed it quickly filled up with guests during lunch hour.
Our order included a sashimi platter for two (70,000 KRW) and clam stew (28,000 KRW). The sashimi platter came with shrimp, edamame, clear soup, and grilled fish, making it an excellent value.
The clam stew was delicious, served with a choice of noodles or rice. We opted for noodles, enjoying a pasta-like dish with rich seafood broth. The noodles were perfectly cooked and well-coated in oil.
Finally, the sashimi platter was beautifully presented, featuring a variety of seasonal fish, including abalone, tuna, and salmon, all of which were incredibly fresh and flavorful.
Overall, I highly recommend Odang Ikseon for anyone looking for a great dining experience in Ikseon-dong.
