New York, one of the world's largest investment markets, is once again opening doors for Gyeonggi-do startups to meet local investors. Gyeonggi-do and the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science are recruiting 10 promising startups from the province to participate in the '2026 New York Investment Attraction Support Program' until August 7.

This program goes beyond a simple overseas visit. It supports the entire process of global expansion, from enhancing IR capabilities before departure to pitching to local investors in New York and reviewing direct investments after returning home.

What achievements were made last year?

71 consultations and investment proposals worth 64.8 billion KRW

The program led to actual investment consultations and proposals last year. A total of 71 consultations took place between local startups and investors during the investment attraction support activities in New York, resulting in 16 startups receiving investment and joint verification proposals totaling 64.8 billion KRW.

Securing overseas investment is not an easy challenge for individual startups, as obtaining opportunities to meet local investors is already a significant hurdle. Gyeonggi-do is utilizing its global network to create connections between startups and local investors.

What support can be expected?

Three months of acceleration and New York IR pitching

The selected 10 companies will participate in an acceleration program with CNT Tech from September to November, aimed at entering the global market. They will receive step-by-step support for preparing necessary elements for actual investment attraction, including global market capability assessments, enhancing IR materials, and pre-meetings with investors in New York.

The highlight will be the local program in New York in October, where IR pitching and networking with local investors will be held in collaboration with the global accelerator Plug and Play. Additionally, they will participate in the 'KOOM Week 2026' hosted by the Korean American Founders Association (UKF). KOOM is the largest Korean startup festival in North America, attracting 10,000 attendees last year, where participating companies will have the opportunity to interact directly with successful entrepreneurs in the U.S. market.

Support continues even after the New York visit

Review of direct investments worth 500 million KRW and TIPS linkage

Following the local program, additional support will be provided. For companies that demonstrate high growth potential, there will be a review of direct investments totaling 500 million KRW, along with subsequent support for TIPS linkage.

What is TIPS?

TIPS is a private-led technology startup support program where private investors first invest in promising startups, after which the government matches support for research and development (R&D) funds. It is considered a representative growth ladder for startups, allowing them to secure both private investment and government support simultaneously.
