Already August, and I feel like I haven't done a thing.

So hot, so hot!

Starting the day with a café, as always.

It's not quite my "hood," but let's call the area near Nowon Station my neighborhood.

Anyway, the peach cake looked delicious, but the peaches were surprisingly sour.

I eat both hard and soft peaches without complaining, but sometimes you get a bad draw with hard peaches, which is a bummer...

Oh, and what was that purple drink? A Cherry Jubilee Latte?

It really tasted like Baskin-Robbins' Cherry Jubilee! So strange and wonderful.

How did they make it?

Plus, saw the Busan fishcake man in Nowon.

...

This TOBICS session was at Chung-Ang University.

We voted between Sungkyunkwan University and Chung-Ang, and Chung-Ang won out.

Actually, Sungkyunkwan is closer to me, but I voted to have it at my school sometime...just to see it happen.

But the classrooms at my school have notoriously few outlets. -_-

So, I went to the analysis lab and stole a power strip. (Brought it back, don't worry!)

And for the after-session dinner, we went to Jangdokdae.

Everyone told me to pick the menu!

I don't drink much on campus, so I didn't know what to pick...

Can't remember the name of the dish.

There was a set menu, so we ordered that. The vice president said that would be good.

But it was a bit too salty...

The kimchi tofu and the spicy pork, too, all tasted saltier than they should've.

Of course, the pancakes were delicious since it's a pancake restaurant.

Oh yeah, I also filled up my shopping cart for classes.

I don't know what it is, is it a flag or something?

People will probably complain about my awful schedule, but both Applied Stats and AI are tiny departments with only one section each, so if I want to take them, there's no other way...

Someone else's terrible schedule = my perfect one.

No Plan B...

I was debating between Algorithms and Artificial Neural Networks, since they overlap, but Professor Ji told me to take Algorithms, so that's what I'm doing.

Actually, besides that, I'm also debating between:

Database Design vs. Intro to Statistical Learning

Graph Machine Learning vs. Bayesian Statistics

Whatever. lol

Galmaeul is great.

Before playing soccer, I had a bowl of pork bone soup with Jihojin.

Super small field.

It's hard playing soccer after so long.

My ankles and the muscles on the front of my shins are so sore...

It's a secret that I ate more after this.

Had some cheap beer outside with the older and younger guys.

It was fun to catch up after a while.

Sitting here, I ran into pretty much everyone from Applied Stats.

Friends from the student council, some people chatting in the analysis lab, etc...

We're a really small department, but everyone gets around, huh?

I really love Applied Statistics. lol

Do you know where this is?

A bar? A chicken place? A convenience store?

Nope. lol

Paris Baguette.......

I didn't know they sold alcohol there.

I originally went to buy shaved ice, but they only had the cup version, so I bought this instead...

The visuals aren't great, though...

I won't eat it next time. lol

Went to take the ADsP exam on Saturday.

Huge high school....

Finished the exam in 30 minutes and left.

But someone left before me?

Guess they studied really hard.

I didn't. lol

There was Namdaemun Middle School in front of the high school.

But this is the northeast part of Seoul, so why is it Namdaemun Middle School?

Someone please tell me.

...

And I met up with "Gohwangbong" people in Jamsil. (It means people I served in the military with. lol)

Went to a skewer place. The picture is just for the aesthetic, so ignore it.

The name was Naruto.

Will I get hate if I upload this photo and tag the location?

We had chicken stew for the second round.

Why are all my posts about eating?

Anyway, it was fun to see my friends for the first time in almost six months.

And?

This is supposedly a famous fruit sandwich place.

It was alright.

I guess I had too high expectations? But it was quite pretty.

And I ate something delicious.

Went to the Han River. lol

I bought this Guinness Cold Brew out of curiosity.

It really tasted like Guinness mixed with cold brew coffee.

The only downside is that it wasn't very carbonated...

Ttukseom Hangang Park is nice...

It's breezy by the river, not too crowded, and there are buskers...

Haha.

This Tom N Toms drink is good.

I usually go there specifically for this.

Tried being melancholic by myself.

This is also good.

I think I've become someone who just recommends delicious things.

Going to the TOBICS session.

The 7 train is so weird.

It has a car with no seats.

We had dinner at Nae Jjimdak (braised chicken with vegetables) after the session.

I naturally tried to add dumplings, but they said it was already cooked and couldn't be done.

I was sad.

Second visit to Francaise.

Still feel awkward with the part-timer, Mr. GIOCH.

And went to Cabin. It's been a while.

Maybe it's because I don't come near school during break?

Oh yeah, I'm also in a band.

It was our first rehearsal, and it wasn't too bad.

I was just plunking away at the keyboard and someone took a candid photo...

I definitely like keyboards better than pianos because the keys are easier to press.

The end of rehearsal is dinner~~~~~

It's not punishment, it's welfare!

Anyway, go Home Run!

Destroyed Jangdokdae~

Destroyed Baskin-Robbins too~

And pizza as well~

Another Home Run day has come.

Of course, a beer after playing soccer.

Have you ever heard of Ppeong-maek (puffed rice crackers and beer)?

It's an incredible combination.

You eat puffed rice crackers and your throat gets dry? Take a sip of beer...

Ahhh.

Bliss.

Anyway, try it.

Hyehwa's Sochinchin.

It looks gross in the picture, but it's actually delicious.

The shrimp ramen is good.

I'll eat the GgoBaoRou (sweet and sour pork) next time.

What is this?

...

You don't know what it is just by looking at it, right? lol

It was a Godfather!

And they smoke it here.

It was so cool.

You can taste the aroma every time you drink it.

I liked it!

They had so many different kinds of alcohol.

This is my confirmed schedule.

(Actually, maybe not?)

Basically, a schedule with no breaks, that'll kill a person.

What's with the picture?

I like this song. Listen to it a lot!

Malatang and bingsu, yum.

Rode the Dongjak 01 bus, and the driver was eating a Strawberry Mong dessert. lol

I couldn't resist taking a candid photo because it was cute...

Be careful with dairy products in this hot weather.....

Went to Asuka in front of the main gate for the first time.

Tried the soy sauce ramen first.

Personally, I don't like mushy noodles, but even considering that, the noodles could have been more al dente.

But the broth and other ingredients were delicious.

I'll have to try something else next time.

I went to generative AI education.

I had to put a security sticker on my device, so I don't have any pictures.

I got to do it thanks to a referral from someone in TOBICS.

I was nervous at first, but...

Another teaching assistant happened to be someone I knew, so it was a little easier.

But the lecturer was kind of cool.

He lectured for 50 minutes straight, three times in a row.

He seemed really proud and I felt some sort of professionalism from him.

I'd never heard of napkin.ai before, but it seems pretty good.

I've only used Gamma and Canva AI tools a little bit before, but this looks really good.

Just a little aside...

As I study AI to some extent, I increasingly feel like I could never create and develop models like that.

Perhaps aiming for education like this, or the byproducts that come from it, isn't a bad idea...?

Even though Korea is creating LLMs specialized for Korean,

the foreign models are still more famous and more widely used.

It's a fact that makes me think that Korea still has a long way to go.

But going abroad to compete with them also doesn't seem easy.

It feels like everything has become a red ocean...

I should start thinking about the world that AI will change from now on.

Life is hard...

What should I do for a living?

See you in the next post.

I don't know when that will be.

Users can also listen to posts via natural-sounding voice AI in their own language. Real-time voice translation in community chats allows for live conversations between users from different countries. With voice synthesis, AI can even "learn" your voice preferences to create a more natural and immersive experience.

A Living Community Driven by Local Content and Global Connection

WassupKorea is more than just an information portal — it’s an AI-driven community hub that grows smarter as users interact. Travelers and residents alike can share their own content via links from TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube, or directly post on the platform. AI categorizes the content, suggests similar posts, and connects users with shared interests. Foreigners living in Korea can also access essential resources like visa tips, rental guides, job listings, and lifestyle hacks. As more content is generated and more interactions occur, the AI refines its recommendations — creating a dynamic feedback loop that benefits every user. WassupKorea bridges the gap between Korea’s deep local knowledge and the global audience eager to explore it, forming a smart, multilingual, and inclusive platform for everyone curious about life in Korea.
