A Foodie Adventure in Seoul with George

To spice things up on my boring blog, I'm writing in formal Korean today.
I went to Seoul last Monday and Tuesday.
I had to cancel my birthday plans with my friend George due to unexpected expenses, but we finally managed to meet around his birthday...
August 18th (Monday)
Monday was all about a delicious food tour!
We decided on restaurants we wanted to try and wandered around, sightseeing in between meals.
It was probably my first time having Saigon beer, and it was clean and refreshing without any unpleasant taste.
We braved the scorching sun to find our way to...
The first menu was Vietnamese food!
I had been craving it lately, and I imagined how nice it would be to have a glass of beer with a bowl of soup and feel slightly tipsy in the hot afternoon.
Yes, this is it!
A taste that almost brought tears to my eyes.
The shrimp rolls we ordered together and George's bún chả were also delicious.
Although it was a little tough when I accidentally bit into cilantro hidden among the lettuce...
My dad loves to eat cilantro raw, so why am I like this?
We went to a cafe just a minute away to destroy some desserts.
We chose a peach parfait and an affogato.
Looking at the peach parfait again, it's visually overwhelming... but since I prefer soft peaches, I enjoyed the affogato more. It had a rich, nutty, and slightly bitter taste.
It tasted like a fancy version of the coffee latte ice cream I used to eat occasionally when I was little because it was so expensive.
As expected, familiar tastes are scary.
The most impactful dessert was the catch-up stories.
The stories were so spicy that the sweet menu items weren't overwhelming, and it was just mind-blowing.
D.D..
The wrapping is a bit bizarre because I ran out of pretty wrapping paper.
I talked like crazy and handed over the hair cuff I made thinking of George's dog, Mochi. But...
Oh no...
ㅠㅠㅠ
After looking it over, George said it might be a little big for Mochi...
Since I'm always a cyber aunt who only sees Mochi in pictures, I missed Mochi's fur volume!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry, Mochi!
In the end, we agreed that George would wear it if it was too big for Mochi.
It was fortunate that George has a small head.
I hope the black cat wearing black clothes on a hot day isn't too exhausted.
I saw a cat resting in the shade between buildings.
Because it's black, it must be very hot in the summer, even though it's cute...
Summer will be over soon, kitty..
While moving, I saw a car I had only seen on social media.
We arrived at Han Loro's Grapefruit Apricot Club pop-up store!!
I didn't really know Loro well at the time, but I was so curious about the pop-up after seeing that she released an album and a novel at the same time..!
As someone who loves content, I couldn't resist..
Now she's just become my algorithm.
I want to buy the book soon ㅠㅠ
The pop-up was held in a corner of a clothing store, so it wasn't big, but it was enough to feel the mood of the new album.
Actually... I was an idiot and didn't see the stamp that was right next to me and wrote my name instead.
That's how I joined the Grapefruit Apricot Club. Are you jealous?
The pop-up was over faster than expected, so we looked around the surrounding shops.
Then we went into the Nonfiction store, and with the help of a very professional staff member...
George even did a hand cream and hand washing experience. LOL
It was so funny that his hands got dry and he had to apply hand cream again...
I somehow remembered the internet story about someone trying lip balm at a Lush store, so I desperately tried not to laugh next to him.
On the way to dinner, I saw a very natural Uniqlo advertisement..
I took a picture and sent it without thinking, but George almost died laughing.
For dinner, we went to a South African restaurant that George found.
We ordered lamb steak, sausage, and shrimp salad, and it was so delicious.. I definitely want to go again.
Everything was good, but what I still remember is the flavorful lamb steak with mashed potatoes ㅠㅠ Slurp
George said he found the restaurant on Google Maps this time,,, and it was awesome.
We usually have meaningless, funny conversations, but we had a serious talk for a bit.
I hate that I get so serious as soon as I relax a little bit.
George suddenly wanted to eat Buldak noodles instead of going to a second bar.
Even the slightest mention of Buldak makes me want to eat it, so we went to a karaoke room
And then excitedly returned home.
I showed off my Buldak-cooking talent.
The accompanying movie (?) was *The Life of Disgusting Matsuko*, which George had recently enjoyed.
Some people may not like it, but I liked it.
I liked how she survived no matter what kind of hell she was thrown into.
I liked the cruelty of how she wasn't completely broken even when she was finally broken.
I also liked how the lighthearted direction made the funny parts funnier and the sad parts sadder.
It was a time where the Buldak was spicy and the tears were salty.
TMI The Buldak was so clumped together that we had to cut it with scissors, which was so funny. ㅠㅠㅋㅋㅋ
In keeping with the foodie day concept, we also ate shaved ice for dessert and ended our enjoyable day.
August 19th (Tue)
I guess I was exhausted from walking around in the blazing heat the day before because I woke up at noon without setting an alarm.
I lazed around for a bit and then had hangover soup at George's favorite local restaurant.
I don't seem to have a picture of the soup, but it was a rich and savory sundae soup reminiscent of pork back-bone stew.
We got ready and headed to Hongdae.
We were originally going to a comic book cafe with cats, but we were both too tired, so we lazed around and then suddenly started doing a needlework and then we gave up because we were short of time.
I wore a vintage tee I recently bought.
It looked a bit like pajamas, so I thought I should wear it as loungewear, but I loved it when I went out.
The large dots under the magnifying glass give off a good vibe.
We saw trumpet flowers on our way to eat matcha soufflé.
They were so pretty that I felt like I could endure the heat a little longer.
The matcha flavor was rich and nutty..ㅠㅠ That's what soufflé is like.
The date says 2005;;
I've been enjoying Chun Seonran's short story collection <Love of a Certain Material> so much lately that I'm letting George read it.
I'm so curious if we like the same episodes or not.
Fortunately, he said it was fun. Now that I think about it, I'm a little sad that I didn't interrogate him about what was so fun.
I bothered him so much while he was reading, so I should let it go for the sake of conscience.
As we were about to leave, George gave me a tint that he bought in Fukuoka, saying it was too light for him. Thank you.
The color is cute, but maybe it's because I'm a vintage lover;;
I felt good receiving an item that my friend used to carry around.
But actually, I haven't seen Gintama.
We came to AK Plaza to look around.....................
It's a relief that I don't have money.. but not a relief..
I just drooled and only bought a gift for a friend.
I also looked at this.
George taking a picture of me carefully carrying the Haikyuu pamphlet.
But it ended up getting all crumpled. Well, how could I carry that unfolded all the way to Cheongju..
We came out, looked around a little more at the prop shops, and returned home.
I've been stuck in Cheongju lately, so I was confused about what I even liked, but I feel like I got a good change of scenery.
I read *Winnie the Pooh: Happiness is something you have every day*. When I was twenty, I hated it because it only said obvious things, but I'm starting to relate to it more and more.
