Civilization: Era of Allies - A Mobile Civilization Game Review

Hello!
I'm Park Han-ryang, an influencer.
Currently, one of the hottest topics in the gaming market is the official launch of ‘Civilization: Era of Allies.’ The Civilization series has long been considered a textbook example of strategy games worldwide, known for its in-depth systems and addictive turn-based strategic elements. Now, ‘Civilization’ has finally begun full-scale service on mobile platforms. As soon as I heard about the release, I downloaded and played it right away. Having enjoyed the Civilization series on PC in the past, I was personally quite excited about this game. After playing it myself, I found the level of completion to be higher than expected, and I especially liked how well it was optimized for the mobile environment. I think I'll be hooked for a while.
Conquer civilizations, rule the world!
Civilization: Era of Allies Officially Released!
My first impression upon logging in was “familiar yet new.” The unique elements of the existing Civilization series – city development, unit creation, technology research, diplomacy, and war – were implemented very well. What was particularly impressive was that the UI and tempo were optimized for the mobile environment. Turns that are too slow or an inconvenient interface can quickly lead to fatigue, but Civilization Mobile has taken this into consideration, carefully adjusting the tempo and convenience.
At first, I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be difficult if you don’t know Civilization well?’ But after playing it, I realized that anyone who has played a strategy game even once can easily adapt to the structure. The flow of building and upgrading structures one by one, gathering resources, strengthening heroes, and conquering the surroundings is well established, allowing you to naturally become familiar with the game flow. That’s probably why I feel like I’m gradually becoming absorbed in the game.
You choose your own civilization and gradually develop it from ancient times towards the future. Following the technology tree, growing your city, and expanding your battlefield by producing units is really fun. Another thing I liked was the season system. New civilizations appear or the strategic structure changes every season, so it's not just a repetition of the same pattern but a new challenge each time, which is very refreshing.
Combat in Civilization Mobile can be enjoyed alone, but the alliance system makes it much richer. The tension you feel from joining an alliance, strategizing with other users, and participating in large-scale battles is quite good. The structure allows you to comfortably grow and gain combat experience as the confrontation structure is created sequentially without overdoing it.
Also, don't assume that Civilization Mobile has simplified the strategy. From the initial settlement selection to securing resources and diplomatic relations with neighboring civilizations, the deeper dilemmas and choices continue as you play. Unit matchups, building placement within the city, and era transitions are still important, and “strategic thinking ahead” determines victory or defeat. Personally, I think you can grow quickly enough in the early to mid-game just by taking care of quests and missions.
As content unlocks one by one, there are many choices to make, and the future results vary greatly depending on where and how you invest, which makes it even more anticipated. Perhaps, after the early stages, the growth rate and results will vary greatly depending on how you grow, so the fun of carefully playing is significant. It seems that if novices, intermediates, and experts are well divided into grades and play by joining alliances, it will be very fun.
‘Civilization: Era of Allies’ strongly feels like a strategy game that takes advantage of the strengths of the existing Civilization series while adding the speed and accessibility of mobile. While maintaining the essence of the strategy game, it offers easy accessibility, diverse combat content, and continuous growth through the season system, making it a mobile Civilization that you can consistently play. Although I haven't had a chance to enjoy various content since its release on June 19th, it's great for playing in short bursts when you have time and has a good structure for delving deep for long periods. If you're looking for an interesting game recently, I think you should try it out.
