Weekend Getaways: Family Outing & Seochon Delights

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
My parents came up to see my niece, and I also had a lovely outing with my best friend, my sister! I'm excited to share my experiences with you.
My dad came to Seoul with us after a long time. We were at House of Shinsegae and were wondering where to go for lunch.
Since he wanted something soupy after the bus ride, we decided on Korean cuisine.
To get to House of Shinsegae from Honam Line (Central City Terminal), I find the exit next to Starbucks the easiest to use.
The menu includes options like Braised Dried Yellow Croaker Set, Spicy Pork, Bulgogi (Korean BBQ Beef) Set, Spicy Stir-fried Octopus Set, Korean Beef Soup, and Top Shell Bibimbap (Mixed Rice).
I made a reservation the day before. Although they don't have private rooms, I was seated in a quiet corner thanks to the reservation. I visited a little before 11 AM on a weekday, and the place was packed by noon!
They were also running a receipt review event (free soft drink) and a corkage-free promotion for one bottle of wine purchased from the wine cellar on the 1st floor.
I loved that they served tea as water.
The Braised Dried Yellow Croaker Set was generous! I enjoyed it more than the regular dried yellow croaker, and it wasn't too salty. The rice was also perfectly cooked, so it was a treat to have white rice after a long time!

I also went on a weekday date in Seochon with my sister :)
I visited a place I remembered enjoying before, but the service and food were a bit disappointing this time.
When I arrived around 1 PM, most of the tables hadn't been cleared after the previous customers left. When I asked the staff to clean the table next to me while ordering, their expression wasn't pleasant. The noise while clearing the dishes was also quite loud, making it uncomfortable.

Since the soup of the day was sold out, we ordered one clam chowder and asked them to split it into two. It had lots of ingredients, giving it a nice texture, and the flavor was savory.
The Shrimp and Eggplant Cheese Risotto was very milky and bland.
I wouldn't order this dish again.
The Mentaiko Asparagus Pasta was nicely seasoned thanks to the low-sodium Mentaiko, and the asparagus added a great texture. I enjoyed it.

Overall, I don't plan to revisit. While the pasta and soup were decent, there are many other places in Pangyo and Seoul that offer similar or better flavors at the same price, so I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Also, the restaurant used to have a quiet, Japanese home-style vibe, but I didn't get that feeling this time.

We also visited two cafes in Seochon. Both had lovely spaces and delicious drinks!
Idolim Blote Coffee X Bake Seochon Main Branch, filled with Blue Ribbons, had many kinds of bread and the space felt fresh!
The first floor has the bakery and counter.

There are also seats on the second floor. The space is divided into an area with a green, tree-framed window and an area near the speakers.
The first floor was quieter, so my sister and I sat there, enjoying the sky and street views :)
Since it was a cafe with a bakery, we enjoyed the sample bread together.

Like Choi Hwa-jung, we moved on to a second cafe.
This place also had a fresh and trendy vibe!
Even though it was hot, the weather looked beautiful from inside, which made the space feel even prettier.

It's a place where you can enjoy both coffee and alcohol, but there aren't many indoor seats. Indoors, there's bar seating and table seating, and there's also terrace seating. The terrace would be nice on spring or autumn evenings!
My sister and I sat at a table near the entrance, which was great because we could look out at the garden.

I tried the Sakerato and Shiso Lemonade, and the shiso fragrance went well with the lemon, making it delicious!
The Sakerato also had soft foam and wasn't too strong, which suited my taste.

I would revisit both cafes! It had been a while since I went to Seochon, and the atmosphere was still great, so I plan to visit again when the weather cools down a bit.

That's all for today. I'll be back with another review next time!
