It might seem tricky to find at first, but just follow the signs on the ceiling and you'll locate it easily.
Each chef serves a maximum of 6 people, with a total of 18 seats available. They offer warm green tea.
The interior had a clean and calming atmosphere, which I enjoyed.
When choosing a budget-friendly omakase, I also consider the ambiance of the building and the path leading to the restaurant.
That's where the first impression of the restaurant begins, wouldn't you agree?
In that sense, this place felt better than the one I went to in Yeouido.
It was a bit crowded due to overlapping with office lunch hours, but the building was clean, so it wasn't too chaotic.
Lunch Course Composition
₩60,000 per person, reservations available at 11:30 AM / 1:00 PM
Chawanmushi, Spring Roll (Shrimp + Corn + Asparagus) / Sea Urchin Cream Sauce
The chawanmushi was a comforting start for our hungry stomachs.
The spring roll wasn't too salty, so the flavors of the ingredients were well-pronounced.
A pleasant start with the tomato marinated in plum extract!
Sea Bream ???? Red Shrimp ???? Striped Jack
The shari (sushi rice) dissolved nicely in my mouth, which I liked.
Wasabi and soy sauce are added to each sushi.
After the first sushi, they asked if the portion sizes were appropriate.
I didn't want to feel too full, so I asked for a little less shari.
Tuna Akami (Lean Tuna) ???? Cuttlefish ???? Summer Amberjack
I was surprised by the incredibly tender texture of the tuna akami. It melted in my mouth!
The seared amberjack was also delicious.
Cuttlefish was predictably delicious.
Miso Marinated Silver Cod ???? Tuna Otoro (Fatty Tuna) ???? Seasonal Herring
Personally, I enjoyed the texture of the herring.
If they asked which sushi I wanted to eat one more time at the end of the course, I would choose the herring.
(I was hoping for an encore sushi, but there wasn't any.)
The miso-marinated silver cod made me want to try it again if I ever travel to Japan. It was delicious.
Monkfish Liver, Soba (Udon instead), Eel
Oh, I really love monkfish liver, but the flavor of the seaweed was a bit too strong at the end, which was slightly distracting.
Even budget-friendly lunch omakase courses sometimes include seaweed as well, but since it had been a while, I was excited and forgot to check.
Futomaki, Japanese Omelet (Gyokku), Matcha Ice Cream
Normally, my criteria for choosing an omakase is whether or not they serve mackerel sushi (Bong 초밥), but I came here even without it this time.
Tasting the seasonal herring satisfied that craving.
For ₩60,000, I would definitely recommend this place to people looking for good value.
I especially liked the warm green tea they served, which wasn't bitter and had a savory taste. They kept refilling it throughout the meal.
I didn't even feel the need for any other beer or drinks.
Would I recommend it? Four stars.
Things to Do in Jongno Afterwards
The location is great since it is located near Gyeongbokgung Station. It's also a good value for the price and has a nice atmosphere. This makes it convenient for planning the next part of the day since you can easily go to Seochon or Ikseon-dong.
There was a game cafe where you could play PlayStation and Nintendo games.
Mouse Potato
There wasn't much of a wait since it was a weekday.
Playing Tekken on a big screen made me realize how fun it is.
There's more, but I'll stop here!
