During our family trip to Jeju Island, we initially set out to find a pizza place. However, we stumbled upon a fantastic Korean restaurant that exceeded all expectations. With a young child in tow, meal selection can be challenging, but this Jeju Korean restaurant offered a perfect combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a place we'd gladly visit again.

We visited Halla Galchi Jeju Airport Branch.

Location: 4, Jeongjon 13-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 1st floor

Hours: Daily 10:00 - 22:00 (Last Order 21:00)

Menu: Halla Set for 4 people - ₩159,000

The restaurant, Halla Galchi, is conveniently located near the airport, making it a popular choice for travelers before or after their flights. One of the reasons this Jeju Korean restaurant is so popular is its dedicated parking lot. Since renting a car is essential for getting around Jeju Island, having a dedicated parking space was incredibly convenient.

The interior of the restaurant was bright and airy, thanks to the large windows, and had the ambiance of a high-end traditional Korean restaurant. With plenty of tables and private rooms, it was also suitable for large groups.

We spotted autographs from famous celebrities, confirming that we had indeed found a great place.

Traveling with a baby, we always look for restaurants with high chairs. Halla Galchi not only had high chairs but also provided utensils for children, allowing us to enjoy our meal comfortably.

A self-service bar offered additional side dishes and utensils, all neatly arranged and clean, which was very reassuring.

The restaurant offers a set menu, which eliminates the hassle of choosing individual dishes. The set menu was perfect because it had a great variety of dishes, including items that children would enjoy.

1. A Full Table Spread

The food is prepared upon ordering. Although it took a little time for everything to be served, all the dishes arrived at once, making it easy to enjoy the meal.

2. Neatly Prepared Side Dishes

The side dishes were served in small, elegant plates. Each one looked appetizing, and we later learned that they are all made in-house, adhering to a strict principle of only serving the best. This gave us confidence in the quality of the food.

The entire family enjoyed the delicious and varied dishes. The abalone rice served in a stone pot was particularly nourishing. It was my first time trying abalone in stone pot rice, and the sweet and chewy texture was incredibly appealing. The seaweed soup was also exceptional. It had a refreshing flavor, likely due to the addition of seafood, and the seaweed was tender, making it easy for the children to eat. The soup was seasoned perfectly, not too salty, and had a nutty flavor that the kids loved.

The set menu even included mackerel sashimi, offering a diverse range of flavors from meat to seafood. The mackerel sashimi was incredibly fresh, with a savory taste and no fishy odor, which even my husband, who is sensitive to fishy flavors, enjoyed.

3. Juicy Black Pork Tteokgalbi (Grilled Short Rib Patties)

Even my picky-eater husband loved the black pork tteokgalbi, which was bursting with flavorful juices with every bite.

4. Perfectly Grilled Hairtail

The grilled hairtail looked incredibly appetizing. It was long and thick, with plenty of meat. The staff quickly and skillfully deboned the fish with a spoon, revealing the impressive size of the fish.

Although I enjoy hairtail, I often avoid it because of the hassle of removing the bones. Having the staff debone it for us made it so much easier and more enjoyable to eat. The fish was tender and melted in my mouth.

The savory flavor and lack of fishiness made it a true rice thief.

5. Flavorful Braised Hairtail

The braised hairtail had a uniquely rich flavor. It included not only hairtail but also baby octopus, abalone, shrimp, dried radish greens, and onions, all simmered in a spicy sauce that intensified the flavor as it cooked. The spiciness was not overpowering but rather a pleasant kick that made it hard to stop eating.

Halla Galchi offered a menu that was perfect for the whole family, with delicious food and excellent service. It's a great place for family meals, dates, or company gatherings. I plan to visit often in the future.
