Uchujin Ramen: A Hidden Gem in Euljiro for Delicious Ramen and Hangover Relief

Euljiro's Must-Try Ramen, Hangover Cure, and Solo Dining Spot: Uchujin Ramen
Hello, I'm Garlic Gelato :)
Today, I'm going to share my experience at 'Uchujin Ramen,' located near Euljiro's Sewoon Daelim Shopping Center and close to Gwangjang Market.
I usually love ramen and have visited ramen restaurants all over Seoul, but this place was particularly memorable.
It's perfect for a 부담(budam - feeling of pressure or burden) -free solo meal during lunchtime, and it's also an excellent choice for a hangover cure after a night out in Euljiro.

Uchujin Ramen is close to both Euljiro and Gwangjang Market, making it a great place to stop by for a date or a lunchtime hangover cure.
I walked there from Jongno via the upper path of the shopping center, and the scenery was beautiful.
Uchujin Ramen Interior
Located in an old shopping center in Euljiro, the interior feels like a small ramen bar in Japan.
The walls are neatly decorated with ramen-related posters and menus, and the open kitchen allows you to watch the noodles being cooked and the broth being prepared.
This makes the wait even more enjoyable as the rich broth aroma fills the space.
Uchujin Ramen Menu
'Uchujin' is more than just a delicious ramen restaurant.
It's a place where Master Heo In-beom, who appeared on 'Life's Master 546,' directly learned the techniques of Master Nishii Narumi, who has been studying Japanese ramen for over 40 years.
Perhaps that's why I felt a deep, authentic flavor from the first bite.
It felt like the authentic essence of Japan was harmoniously blended with Korean tastes, and that dedication and effort were poured into each bowl.
Yuzu pickled radish and takana (pickled mustard greens) were available on the table, and the menchi katsu (minced meat cutlet) was served first. This is a must-have side dish with ramen.
Uchujin's menchi katsu is bite-sized but packed with meat and juicy flavor. The outside is crispy, the inside is soft, and the savory aroma fills your mouth.
It perfectly balances the rich broth of the ramen without being greasy. The rich broth and crispy texture of the fried cutlet surprisingly complement each other.
Personally, when I order chashu-don (pork rice bowl) at ramen restaurants, there's often leftover rice, but here, a perfectly sized mini chashu-don is served with the ramen.
The glossy chashu is sliced into bite-sized pieces and placed on top of the rice, melting softly in your mouth with a sweet and savory soy sauce flavor that blends perfectly with the rice.
It's a definite presence when eaten with ramen!
The signature menu at Uchujin is the Karai Tantanmen (spicy tantanmen)!
As a spice lover, I naturally ordered this menu first.
The rich broth base, a blend of pork and chicken broth, is enhanced by the savory peanut sauce, creating a smooth, rich, and subtly spicy flavor. The spiciness of the chili powder is noticeable but not overpowering, and the harmonious blend of savory and spicy flavors makes it perfect for a hangover cure.
The broth has a rich consistency but is not greasy, making it addictively delicious to the last drop. You can also adjust the spiciness to your preference. I chose thin and chewy noodles, and the elasticity was perfect.
'Shirunashi' means 'no broth' in Japanese. This Shirunashi Tantanmen is exactly that: a brothless tantanmen where the rich sauce is perfectly absorbed into the noodles, maximizing the spicy and savory flavors.
The noodles are chewy and have a great texture, offering a different charm from the broth-based tantanmen.
The ground meat, green onions, sesame seeds, and chili oil on top stimulated my appetite from the aroma alone.
The spiciness feels more direct than in the broth version, which is perfect for relieving a hangover.
Euljiro has many trendy restaurants these days, but it's hard to find a good place to eat alone.
However, Uchujin has a bar-style seating arrangement, so it doesn't feel awkward to come alone.
The food comes out quickly, and the staff is friendly, making it a comfortable experience.
During lunchtime, it's crowded with office workers, nearby market vendors, and ramen enthusiasts, but the turnover is fast, and the seating is spacious, making it a perfect spot for solo diners.
Overall Restaurant Review
If you want to taste the true essence of ramen in Euljiro, Uchujin Ramen is a must-visit.
The deep flavor, a perfect harmony of 40 years of craftsmanship and Korean tastes, the hangover-curing spicy broth, and the solo-dining-friendly layout are all perfect.
In particular, the Karai Tantanmen is undoubtedly one of the best tantanmen in Seoul.
I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place for solo dining or a hangover cure in Euljiro.
