Uchujin: A Culinary Gem in Lotte Department Store Jamsil

Thanks to my Lotte World annual pass, I often find myself at Lotte Department Store in Jamsil at least once a week for lunch or dinner. Today, I visited Uchujin, a restaurant run by Master Heo Young-beom, featured on "Life's Master".
Uchujin is already well-known as a ramen 맛집 (delicious restaurant) in Lotte Department Store Jamsil, but this time, I was surprised to find that their tonkatsu was also incredibly delicious.
Let's go to Uchujin, a 맛집 (delicious restaurant) near Seokchon Lake!
Address: Lotte Department Store Jamsil Branch B1 Food Court, 240 Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul. It's easy to find, located right next to Samjin Fish Cake and The Bap House.
Operating Hours: Mon-Thu 10:30 AM - 8:00 PM, Fri-Sun 10:30 AM - 8:30 PM (No break time)
Amenities: Wireless internet, restroom, waiting area, reservations, easy payment options, parking
The restaurant has a clean and neat exterior.
As it's located in the food court of Lotte Department Store Jamsil, the restaurant is very clean and hygienic. There's even a sign indicating an "Excellent" hygiene rating!
Also, the open kitchen allows you to transparently observe the cooking process up close.
The origin of ingredients is clearly displayed in the restaurant. The pork, the main ingredient in Soy Ramen, Tantan Ramen, and Tonkatsu, is domestic, which is reassuring.
The restaurant also sells various fried foods. They are perfect for taking out and enjoying at home.
There are bar table seats in front of Uchujin, and plenty of seating is available in the surrounding shared dining area. Due to the nature of the menu, the turnover rate is fast, so even if there's a wait, you can usually get seated and eat quickly.
Even though we visited during the afternoon mealtime, seats in the shared dining area became available quickly.
Uchujin offers a variety of comforting and satisfying menu items.
Ramen: Karai Tantan Ramen, Tonkotsu Soy Ramen, Tori Shio Ramen
Tonkatsu: Wang Tonkatsu (Large Tonkatsu), Spicy Wang Tonkatsu, Rosu Katsu (Loin Cutlet), Hire Katsu (Tenderloin Cutlet), Cheese Katsu
There are also other side dishes and mini-set menus, offering a wide range of choices.
Among the many menu items, we chose three of the best:
Ordered:
Tonkotsu Soy Ramen ₩11,900
Karai Tantan Ramen (Basic) ₩12,900
Hire Katsu ₩13,900
Table service:
The ordered food is served directly to the table, and the staff also helps with clearing the table after the meal.
Sitting in the shared dining area, there's a space on the table to place the buzzer. Lotte Department Store's main branch and Jamsil branch offer 'table service'.
Unlike existing stores where ordering and clearing are self-service, staff serve the ordered food directly to the table and help with clearing the table.
I had a lot of luggage and a young child with me, so it was difficult to carry the food. It was so convenient that they brought the food to us and helped with clearing the table. An unexpected touch of appreciation!
Thank you for serving the food and helping with clearing the table!
Karai Tantan Ramen (Basic) - ₩12,900
Uchujin's best menu item, Karai Tantan Ramen, is a spicy reinterpretation of Tantan Ramen tailored to Korean tastes.
The rich flavor of the meat broth is enhanced with a spicy kick, making it an addictive dish.
The spiciness can be adjusted to three levels, but I chose the most basic flavor.
The toppings include 3 types of meat: pork belly chashu, sous vide chashu, and chicken breast, along with wood ear mushrooms and egg. It was a generous bowl filled with various toppings.
At first, it feels fiery, but the spiciness gradually mellows out, making you want to keep eating it. It was a very clean and delicious Tantan Ramen.
Tonkotsu Soy Ramen ₩11,900
This ramen features a broth simmered for a long time with pork bones and chicken, flavored with Uchujin's special soy sauce.
It is also topped with 3 types of meat: pork belly chashu, sous vide chashu, and chicken breast, along with wood ear mushrooms and egg.
The broth was very rich, and the seasoning was just right, not too salty, leaving a clean aftertaste.
Hire Katsu - ₩13,900
The combination of crispy texture and the tender, savory taste of the meat was excellent in the Hire Katsu (tenderloin)!
Uchujin's Hire Katsu was tender, moist, and savory, with absolutely no meat odor.
The batter also felt like it was fried in fresh oil, as it was light and crispy. Eating it with the provided tonkatsu sauce, wasabi, and salt offered different flavors and was very enjoyable.
Rosu Katsu is served with white rice and soup for free, making it a hearty meal.
My picky son also enjoyed the tonkatsu here, making it a 효자메뉴 (must-have menu)!
If you want to eat delicious ramen tailored to Korean tastes,
ramen with a rich broth made from a combination of pork bone and chicken broth,
or light and tender tonkatsu!
If you want a place with a fast turnover rate and seats that are convenient for 혼밥 (dining alone)!
When you want to eat ramen and tonkatsu at Lotte Department Store Jamsil,
I recommend Uchujin, a ramen 맛집 (delicious restaurant) in Jamsil!
