SushiO: The Hottest All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Spot in Hongdae, Seoul

I recently met up with some friends in Hongdae after a long time. The atmosphere was already buzzing with excitement as we all gathered!
We shopped around, took some 인생네컷 (life four-cut) photos – a must-do these days – and chatted at a cafe until it was almost dinner time. Someone asked, "I'm hungry, what should we eat?" Everyone simultaneously searched for 'Hongdae entrance 맛집 (delicious restaurant)' and the first thing that came up was SushiO, the hot sushi spot in Hongdae.
Since we all love sushi, there was no need to even hesitate. Plus, it's an all-you-can-eat system! The guys were already thrilled, and we decided, 'Let's eat until we're stuffed today!' and headed to SushiO. Its convenient location made it perfect after hanging out in Hongdae. As expected of a Hongdae hotspot, there was a wait, but the turnover was quick, so we were able to get in without a long wait.
Location & Operating Hours
Location: 1st Floor, 100-6 Eoulmadang-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Hours: Daily 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Approximately a 5-minute walk from Hongik University Station Exit 9
SushiO is located at the beginning of Yeonnam-dong, making it a great addition to a Hongdae outing. It's easy to find since it's close to the station, and it's already gained popularity on social media, so the area in front of the restaurant was crowded with people.
Restaurant Atmosphere
Solo diners are welcome!
The interior was surprisingly spacious with high ceilings, which gave it a cool and airy feel. There was a variety of seating options, from counter seats perfect for 혼밥 (eating alone) to tables where you can sit face-to-face with friends.
Sushi was constantly coming around on the conveyor belt, and the soft lighting created a pleasant atmosphere. Even though it was crowded, the lively atmosphere unique to Hongdae was actually enjoyable. It's the perfect spot for Hongdae dates, friend gatherings, and family meals. A must-visit Seoul sushi restaurant.

As expected of a famous Seoul Hongdae restaurant, the menu lineup was amazing! My eyes widened as I looked at each sushi item coming around on the conveyor belt. There was everything from my favorites like salmon, flounder, raw shrimp, and squid to beef sushi with a smoky flavor, omelet, and tuna rolls.
My favorite salmon sushi had thick slices of salmon topped with onions and sauce. There was no fishy taste at all, and it was savory and tender.
The shrimp sushi was firm and fresh. My shrimp-loving friend only focused on the conveyor belt and ate only the shrimp sushi!
The beef sushi had a subtle smoky flavor and juicy texture, which the guys devoured. The combination of beef and sushi was surprisingly delicious.
A must-try was the giant salmon sushi. It was an extra ₩3,000 per piece, so I didn't hesitate to order it. It was so huge that it was hard to eat in one bite. The rich flavor and tender texture of the salmon were amazing. In the end, one piece wasn't enough, and I ordered another one.
Many people visit because of the side dishes, making it a famous restaurant in Hongdae.
There was a variety of foods such as chicken karaage, takoyaki, tteokbokki, cake, and salad.
Even though I was full, there's always room for dessert, right? At SushiO, you can enjoy not only sushi and side dishes but also unlimited desserts.
They had sweet desserts like cheesecake, cream cake, and pan splet cake, which were perfect for ending the meal on a sweet note.
There was also a variety of drinks, so a sip of cider with the sushi and a sip of Americano with the dessert made for a perfect course. Being able to eat all the sushi I wanted and even have dessert is why this place is really a great restaurant.
The tteokbokki tasted like something from a snack bar in front of a school, so I even drank the soup. The fried foods also had a thin batter, which I liked.
I was worried that the quality would be poor because it was all-you-can-eat, but it wasn't at all. Instead, fresh sushi was constantly coming around, and the quality of the side dishes was also good, so I knew why it had become a hot place in Hongdae.
Overall
Visiting SushiO this time was definitely a great choice!
- Fresh Lineup (Salmon, Shrimp, Flounder, Beef, etc.)
- Diverse Side Menu (Chicken, Takoyaki, Tteokbokki)
- Perfect Ending with Sweet Desserts
- Lively Atmosphere Unique to Hongdae
Most of all, the best part was that it was a great place for Hongdae dates, gatherings with friends, and family meals.
If you love sushi, you should definitely go to SushiO! I now know why it is already hot on SNS. I highly recommend it as the best sushi restaurant in Seoul that you must visit when you go to Hongdae.
