Tricolor Yakitori Set Meal · Hayashi Rice with Pork Cutlet

Featured on 'Life's Master' | Parking Not Available

Cozy Atmosphere | Paid for by Me | Great Date Spot in Yeonhui-dong

Hello, it's JJei :)

Today, I'm sharing my review of Sio, a Japanese home-style restaurant featured on 'Life's Master,' which I visited with my sibling during an outing in Yeonhui-dong!

Located in an alley in Yeonhui-dong, it's so famous that there's always a wait, so I really wanted to try it this time.

Sio Yeonhui Main Branch

Address: 1st Floor, 190-4 Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul

Hours: Daily 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM

Break Time: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM (Weekends: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM)

Parking: Not available (Public parking on the street or parking at a nearby mart)

Exterior

It's a small restaurant nestled among the residential streets of Yeonhui-dong.

From the outside, it looks simple, but the warm lighting shining through the glass windows immediately gives you the impression of a neat and tidy Japanese home-style restaurant.

There was also a sign at the entrance certifying its appearance on 'Life's Master,' which made me even more excited. Haha.

Interior

We arrived around 5:10 PM, and all the seats were already taken, so we had to wait. T_T

We were number 1 in the waiting line at that time.

The interior has a cozy atmosphere with wood-tone decor and lace curtains. I liked it a lot. Hehe.

Sunlight streams through the window seats, so it would be even prettier if you visit during the day.

The tables are spaced generously apart, making it good for a quiet meal, and there were more groups of 2-3 people than solo diners.

꿈같은 순간

Menu

Sio offers a Japanese home-style menu centered around set meals.

Popular dishes include:

Tricolor Yakitori Set Meal (₩16,000)

Hayashi Rice and Pork Cutlet Set Meal (₩17,000)

Sio Homemade Salmon Bowl (₩18,000)

Sukiyaki (Dinner Only) (₩18,000)

All set meals come with 3 side dishes + miso soup + dessert.

The price range is reasonable, and I think it's a good value for the quality of the food.

즐거운 순간

Tricolor Yakitori Set Meal

₩16,000

As befitting Sio's signature dish, the visual presentation was striking!

The tricolor aspect is no joke.

The green of the bok choy, the brown of the chicken thighs, and the yellow of the egg... it looked so appetizing.

And because it's a set meal, it wasn't just the rice bowl, but also miso soup and a variety of side dishes, making it even more filling. Hehe.

The highlight is the 10-year-old tare soy sauce!

The chicken thighs were tender and juicy, and the combination of smoky flavor and sweet and savory soy sauce was perfect.

Topped with stir-fried bok choy and scrambled eggs, the salty meat, crunchy vegetables, and soft eggs balanced each other out, making me happy with every bite.

There was even a lot of chicken thigh, so I thought, "Wow, this is really generous!"

인상 깊은 모습

Hayashi Rice and Pork Cutlet Set Meal

₩17,000

The hayashi rice has a rich and flavorful demi-glace sauce with plenty of meat.

The pork cutlet is made with tenderloin, so it's crispy on the outside and surprisingly tender on the inside.

Especially if you put a little wasabi on it, the greasiness disappears, and the savory flavor of the meat becomes much richer.

The portion size is also generous, making it a satisfying meal!

값진 경험

Overall Review

Sio is a restaurant that stays true to the basics, just like its name suggests.

From the sweet and savory balance of the tricolor yakitori to the tender texture of the pork cutlet and the deep flavor infused with Chef Jo Gyeong-rae's philosophy, the food quality is excellent.

The restaurant's atmosphere is also great, making it a wonderful place for a date.

I would definitely recommend it to couples on a date. Hehe.

If you're looking for Japanese home-style cuisine in Yeonhui-dong, I sincerely recommend Sio, the restaurant featured on 'Life's Master'! :)
