Shabu 20 Gaya: A Perfect Spot for Lunch and Family Dining in Gaegeum-dong, Busan
Today, I'm excited to introduce 'Shabu 20 Gaya,' a fantastic shabu-shabu restaurant perfect for lunch in Gaegeum-dong!
With its spacious interior and convenient parking, Shabu 20 Gaya is a great choice for dining out in the Gaegeum-dong area.
You can easily see how large the restaurant is from the outside. They also have an outdoor menu for a quick glance. We arrived around 6:30 PM on a weekday and were seated immediately, but the tables quickly filled up!
I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially on weekends, as there's usually a wait due to the restaurant's popularity and ample parking.
Shabu 20 Gaya boasts a vast number of tables and provides baby chairs, making it an excellent option for family dining in both Gaya and Gaegeum-dong!
The restaurant is conveniently spacious, and the self-service bar is constantly refreshed due to the high volume of customers. This ensures that the food is always warm and fresh!
As a shabu-shabu specialty restaurant, Shabu 20 offers a choice of two soup bases. Special broths cost an additional ₩1,000 per person, while the original broths are available at the base price.
We opted for the Sukiyaki and Spicy broths.
For original broths, refill broth is available at the self-service bar. For special broths, you can simply ask the staff, and they will bring it to you.
Each table is equipped with utensils, rice paper, a bowl for warm water, tongs, and a ladle.
After ordering, the staff brings the initial serving of meat. Then, we headed to the self-service bar to gather vegetables and other accompaniments.
Shabu 20 Gaya, a great place for shabu-shabu in Gaegeum-dong, truly excels in maintaining the freshness and cleanliness of its meat and vegetables.
Even though it's often crowded, the staff constantly cleans and replenishes the self-service bar. The high turnover ensures that you're always enjoying fresh ingredients!
I especially loved that the rice paper wasn't pre-set, allowing us to take only what we needed.
The vegetables for the shabu-shabu and those for the Vietnamese wraps were fresh, diverse, and neatly presented.
Shabu 20 Gaya has a cute little area called 'Yaksu-teo' (meaning 'mineral spring'). This area offers various drinks, warm water for the rice paper, and a water purifier, ensuring you have everything you need.
Just seeing this, you can already tell how cost-effective Shabu 20 is!
The layout of Shabu 20 Gaya is well-designed. Turn around, and you'll find porridge, broth, and various desserts readily available.
Every dish looks so clean and appealing! It's no wonder it's a great lunch spot in Gaegeum-dong. We visited for dinner, but Shabu 20 is excellent for both lunch and dinner!

They also promptly refill the dishes as needed!
You can't miss the chicken at Shabu 20! It's so delicious, both the soy sauce and the sweet and spicy versions! The shabu-shabu and the variety of fried chicken are why I always choose Shabu 20!
For those looking for a good lunch spot in Gaegeum-dong, Shabu 20 Gaya also offers tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and takoyaki, making it easy to enjoy various tastes!
While we were at the self-service bar, the staff brought over the soup bases we ordered.
After grabbing the ingredients for Vietnamese wraps and the fried chicken and tteokbokki to enjoy while the shabu-shabu cooks, we were ready to enjoy Shabu 20!
Once the broth boils, add the vegetables for the shabu-shabu! We divided them between the spicy and sukiyaki broths and let them cook.
I love that Shabu 20 allows you to customize your meal with your choice of broth and vegetables!
Once the broth with vegetables is boiling, it's time to add the meat!
Since both the meat and vegetables are unlimited at Shabu 20, I tend to focus on the meat!
I guess you could say I use the vegetables as a side... LOL! The shabu-shabu meat at Shabu 20 Gaya is excellent!
Once the shabu-shabu is cooked, wrap it in Vietnamese rice paper and enjoy! Or, dip it in your favorite sauce!
You can truly enjoy Shabu 20 to the fullest!
Shabu 20 Gaya is spacious and popular, which is why the vegetables and meat are so fresh! You can taste the freshness!
While enjoying the shabu-shabu, you can also have tteokbokki, fried chicken, and even a salmon salad for a constantly changing experience!
The salmon in the salmon salad at Shabu 20 Gaya is also very fresh!
This time, I cut the rice paper in half before making the wraps. It was so convenient! Add a bit of meat and vegetables, roll it up, and dip it in peanut or chili sauce. It's amazing! No words needed.
Writing this post on a cloudy day is making me crave warm broth and Vietnamese wraps!
Once you've eaten most of the vegetables and meat, add more! Shabu 20 offers a great variety of vegetables and meats, so you can enjoy many different flavors!
If you need more Sukiyaki broth, ask the staff. Spicy broth is available at the self-service bar.
Even though I was incredibly full, I thought I should have some kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) or rice noodles after the shabu-shabu!
I enjoyed Shabu 20 so much that I was completely stuffed, so I only had a small portion of rice noodles. I should have eaten less earlier! The rice noodles were amazing! My small stomach was sad because I couldn't eat the kalguksu or make porridge!
Am I the only one who can never eat the porridge or kalguksu at the end when I come to Shabu 20? There's just too much food! Shabu 20 Gaya is amazing value for money!
Even when you are full, you always have room for dessert!
Shabu 20 Gaya provides a helpful guide on how to make affogato! So, I got some affogato and ice cream!
While eating, I realized that adding ice cream to hot chocolate would also be delicious! So, I had another cup! Shabu 20 Gaya has a machine that makes hot chocolate and coffee, which is awesome!
Many places have coffee machines with a hot chocolate option, but it doesn't work. However, Shabu 20 Gaya's hot chocolate works perfectly, which is great for families with kids!
And the oranges and rice cakes were delicious! The rice cakes were wonderfully chewy and soft!
To enjoy Shabu 20 Gaya to the very end, grab a takeout cup near the counter and get an iced Americano to go!
Shabu 20 Gaya is so considerate that they even provide the takeout cups! When you go out for a family meal, going to a restaurant and then a cafe can get expensive. But here at Shabu 20 Gaya, a great restaurant in Gaegeum and Gaya, you can have both a meal and dessert, making it incredibly cost-effective and perfect!
Shabu 20 Gaya is thoughtful until the very end! The cute decorations caught my eye, and I loved that they have a photo printer that prints photos from your receipt near the exit!
Even without makeup, I printed a photo to remember the occasion! That’s the end of enjoying Shabu 20 Gaya in a delicious and proper manner!
The spacious interior makes it great for family dinners or group gatherings, and the variety of food ensures that everyone, young and old, can enjoy themselves at Shabu 20 Gaya!
I had a very satisfying experience! The staff was constantly moving, so the self-service bar was clean, and I didn't feel like anything was lacking. I was completely satisfied!
