Savor Grilled Fish Perfection: A Review of Baeknyeon Godeungeo 1750 in Seoul

Hello everyone! It's Gang-i here! π
Today, I opened the windows this morning and a cool breeze came in.
On days like this, instead of grilling fish at home,
It's best to go to a proper wood-fired grill restaurant and eat *geot-ba-sok-chok* (crispy outside, moist inside) fish!
So, I visited Baeknyeon Godeungeo 1750, located in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu.
A commanding presence from the first impression.
Located on 4.19-ro main street, it's really easy to find.
The building is quite large with two floors, so you'll definitely notice it while passing by.
The exterior is clean and neat, making it perfect for family gatherings or group dinners.
There's also plenty of parking, so it's easy to visit by car.
Popular enough to have weekend waiting lines.
I went on a weekday afternoon, but
I heard there are waiting lines during peak hours on weekends.
That's how much it's already known as a 'real λ§μ§ (delicious restaurant)' in this neighborhood.
Diverse grilled lineup.
Looking at the menu, there's mackerel, Spanish mackerel, flounder, Atka mackerel, tongue sole, hairtail, etc.
A collection of national fish to menus full of the scent of the sea!
Plus, for those who find fish a bit much, they even have stone-grilled pork ribs.
You can choose between soy sauce and spicy sauce,
And they're also grilled in a wood-fired oven, giving them an appealing smoky flavor.
The charm of a 500-degree wood-fired oven.
The key to this restaurant is the 500-degree high-temperature wood-fired oven.
You can see the fish grilling in front of the fire,
And watching the oil sizzle and the skin turn golden brown makes your mouth water.
One bite and the skin is crispy, and the flesh is soft and moist,
Making you think, 'Ah, this is why wood-fired grilling is different.'
The presence of a 12-dish table setting and a pot of rice.
The basic table setting that accompanies the main dish is also quite elaborate.
Twelve side dishes, including seasoned vegetables, kimchi, salted seafood, pickled vegetables, and seasoned greens, fill the table,
Providing a composition that enhances the savory flavor of the fish without being too stimulating.
And what can't be missed is the freshly cooked pot rice.
As soon as you open the lid, you see glistening rice grains with a savory aroma,
The taste of the rice is really alive.
After scooping the rice into a bowl, pour hot water over the remaining scorched rice to finish with *sungnyung* (scorched rice tea),
You feel warmed to the core.
The unexpected charm of stone-grilled pork ribs.
I came thinking only of grilled fish, but
I was surprised at how delicious the stone-grilled pork ribs were.
The soy sauce marinade is sweet and savory, and the spicy sauce is subtly spicy,
Both are grilled in a wood-fired oven, giving them a strong aroma.
Eating only fish can be a bit greasy,
But having a piece of meat alongside provides the perfect balance.
Self-serve bar with side dishes available
There's a self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant, so you can refill the side dishes without feeling self-conscious.
Popular side dishes disappear quickly, but
The staff refills them quickly, so I was able to use it without any inconvenience.
Location and accessibility
The restaurant is located near the Bukhansan Dulle Trail and the 4.19 Memorial Tower, making it a great place to eat after hiking.
It's also suitable for families to visit after a weekend outing.
'Baeknyeon Godeungeo 1750' is the best choice for those who want to enjoy both grilled fish and meat dishes at the same time.
Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside wood-fired fish, savory pot rice,
And stone-grilled pork ribs full of smoky flavorβ¦
It gives you a variety of satisfaction in one meal.
Highly recommended for family outings, company dinners, and treating your parents to a meal.
