Sanbon Ting Ting Chinese Restaurant: A Successful Saturday Family Gathering (My Own Money, My Own Review)

Last weekend, I was wondering where to go for a family gathering and decided to go to Sanbon Ting Ting Chinese Restaurant, which I often visit. Since it was Saturday, I thought it would be crowded, so I aimed for an early visit right when they opened.
I went before the break time and wrote down my name on the waiting list in advance because there were five of us, and I thought we would have to wait a long time if we just went without any preparation. As expected! When I arrived at the opening time, there were already several teams waiting. After coming here, I understood why there were so many families visiting. It had a great restaurant atmosphere.
Location & Atmosphere of Sanbon Ting Ting Chinese Restaurant
Name: Ting Ting
Address: B1 Floor, Today Mall, 62 Sanboncheon-ro, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do
Hours: Tuesday - Friday 11:00 - 21:00 (Break time 15:00 - 17:00, Closed every Sunday)
Parking: Today Mall Underground Parking Lot
Note: You have to go up to the 1st floor from the underground parking lot and then go back down to the B1 floor.
The restaurant is located near the Sanbon Central Commercial Area, making it easily accessible. The interior is clean, and the tables are spaced wide apart, making it a great place for family gatherings. The restaurant isn't very big, so I recommend making a reservation in advance if you have a large group. They don't take reservations on Saturdays. It takes a little time for the food to come out after you order. If you want to order 'Dongpo Pork,' you need to call and make a reservation in advance.
What We Ordered
Since it was a family gathering, we ordered a variety of dishes!
- Jajangmyeon (Black Bean Noodles)
- Tangsuyuk (Sweet and Sour Pork) (Medium)
- Crab Fried Rice
- Ting Ting Jjamppong Stir-fried Noodles
- Cream Shrimp
- Several drinks
This is a completely honest review based on my own money.
Jajangmyeon - Definite Savory Flavor and Chewy Noodles
Jajangmyeon needs to have a solid base, and the noodles here were chewy, making it enjoyable to eat. The sauce had a perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the portion was generous! I don't like thick noodles, and Ting Ting's noodles are thin, which I like.
Tangsuyuk - 인정 (Injeong - 인정 means 'acknowledged' or 'agreed upon' in Korean, implying the reviewer agrees with the common positive sentiment about the dish) - Crispy on the Outside, Soft on the Inside
Tangsuyuk comes in medium and large sizes. We ordered the medium size, which was quite generous and good for 3-4 people as a side dish. Whether you prefer dipping or pouring the sauce, if you order the stir-fried Tangsuyuk, they stir-fry the Tangsuyuk sauce for you. Our family has been ordering stir-fried Tangsuyuk for a while now. You should try it too. I highly recommend it.
The batter wasn't too thick and was crispy, and the meat was moist and didn't get hard even when it cooled down. The sauce was slightly sweeter than sour!
Crab Fried Rice - Subtle Crab Flavor and Fluffy
The crab flavor was subtle, and the rice was stir-fried to be fluffy, making it delicious without being greasy. It's good to eat on its own, but it's even better with Jjamppong soup. Crab fried rice comes with egg soup. It's surprisingly delicious.
Ting Ting Jjamppong Stir-fried Noodles with Shrimp - The Best Dish of the Day!
I really want to recommend this dish. The smoky flavor of Jjamppong was alive, and the seasoning wasn't too strong, making it addictively delicious. It has a hint of Mala flavor and is spicy. People who don't like Mala flavor may not like it. The shrimp was also large, adding to the texture. Everyone in my family said, "Let's order this again next time!", making it the number one dish! This was the second time I've had it, and I'll definitely order it again next time.
Cream Shrimp with Crispy Fried Shrimp
Crispy fried shrimp and cream sauce are the highlights of the cream shrimp. There is a generous amount of cabbage under the cream shrimp. Eating it with cabbage, cream shrimp, crispy fried shrimp, and sliced almonds makes your mouth feel refreshed. When you eat Ting Ting stir-fried noodles, there comes a point when your mouth feels numb. At that time, if you eat cream shrimp, your taste buds are refreshed, and it feels like a cleanse. They go really well together.
Overall - A Good Chinese Restaurant for Family Gatherings in Sanbon
It was worth going early on Saturday. From basic dishes (Jajangmyeon, Tangsuyuk) to stir-fried dishes (crab fried rice) and signature dishes like Ting Ting Jjamppong stir-fried noodles, it's a fail-safe combination, so I recommend it to those looking for a place for family gatherings or weekend dining.
However, I have mixed feelings about recommending it because it's already famous and the waiting time is getting longer. What if it becomes even more famous? It's a restaurant I want to keep to myself... But it's so delicious that I would definitely revisit it based on my own money!
