Salsalnokso is a Korean BBQ place that you'll fall deeper in love with the more you visit. This time, we ordered the Special Assortment B, which costs ₩135,000. It includes 1000g of Salsalnokso's signature menu items: Fresh Ribeye, Flower Ribeye, and Snowflake Ribeye. The set menu is perfect when visiting with parents or friends. It's convenient because you don't have to worry about choosing different cuts of meat; the menu is already decided for you.
The basic side dishes include pickles, kimchi, salad, onion salad, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), pickled radish, ssamjang (soybean dipping sauce), and garlic. All the essential combinations for enjoying Korean BBQ are provided, and the taste balance is so good that you can enjoy them with the meat without feeling overwhelmed.
The seonji-guk (ox blood soup) that comes free with the side dishes is beyond words. It elevates the atmosphere at the table even before the meat arrives. A generous pot is served, and it's so filling that you could easily add a bowl of rice and have a satisfying meal. The value for money is truly amazing. My parents even suggest coming just for the seonji-guk! It's also available as a lunch menu item.
All the side dishes are available at the self-serve bar, so you can refill them as much as you like. Utensils, tongs, scissors, sauces, and wasabi are all provided.
We ate the meat in the order it was served, starting with the Snowflake Ribeye. You can tell the quality of the beef at Salsalnokso in Siheung Jeongwang-dong is excellent just by looking at it.
The outside of the meat cooks quickly, which seals in the juices, resulting in a slightly crispy exterior and a moist, tender interior that I absolutely love.
Because they use charcoal, the high heat doesn't allow the juices to escape, allowing you to fully appreciate the natural flavor of the meat. One bite of Snowflake Ribeye with a spoonful of seonji-guk is simply heavenly.
You can see the juices dripping from the meat, which shows how fresh it is. Snowflake Ribeye is a rare cut, so it can be expensive if you order it separately, but at Salsalnokso in Siheung Jeongwang-dong, you can enjoy it conveniently as part of a set menu, which is less 부담스럽다 (burdensome).
Of course, we had to have some drinks with the delicious food, and the atmosphere became even more lively with a toast.
Next, we grilled the Flower Ribeye. We refilled the seonji-guk in between. The refill cost ₩3,000, but it was worth every penny.
The first time I tried the Flower Ribeye at Salsalnokso in Siheung Jeongwang-dong, the impression was so vivid. It's quite thick, but it's so tender and savory that it melts in your mouth.
The texture is easy to chew, even for elderly people with weak teeth, which makes it easier to choose a menu when visiting with parents. Flower Ribeye with the bone attached is also popular because of the soft charcoal aroma and savory flavor. Make sure to scrape off and eat every last bit attached to the bone.
It's easy to separate, so be sure to eat it all. Flower Ribeye is so good that you can't get enough of it. You can also gather the meat from the bone and grill it separately until crispy.
Before coming to Salsalnokso, I always had galbijjim (braised short ribs), but after trying the fresh meat grilled over charcoal, I only crave the fresh meat. The taste of the Flower Ribeye is amazing.
Before grilling the Fresh Ribeye, we ordered the after-meal naengmyeon (cold noodles). At Salsalnokso in Siheung Jeongwang-dong, if you come during weekday lunch hours (before 3 PM) and order meat, you can get a free after-meal naengmyeon. This is a huge plus. Even though we were already full, we had to order the bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). The sauce is simply addictive.
Since there were several of us, we naturally ordered another bowl of mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) to share, and both types had their own distinct charms. Rather than just eating the naengmyeon as a dessert, it feels like it completes the meal.
And finally, the Fresh Ribeye. Fresh Ribeye is characterized by its long, slender shape. The elasticity is amazing even when you're just cutting the meat. The chewy texture that you imagine just by looking at it is exactly what you experience in your mouth.
The taste is chewier and more flavorful than you can imagine. People who like textured meat will probably prefer the Fresh Ribeye.
Fresh Ribeye is fun to cut, fun to grill, and enjoyable to eat – it's a menu that hits all the right notes.
At Salsalnokso in Siheung Jeongwang-dong, the beef is delicious no matter how you grill it. Whether you grill it lightly or well-done, the result is always delicious, according to your preference.
The second floor consists entirely of private rooms, making it a great place for 회식 (company dinners). The atmosphere is private and quiet, allowing you to focus on the taste of the meat.
The large parking lot eliminates parking worries, making Salsalnokso a complete Korean BBQ experience.
Salsalnokso in Siheung Jeongwang-dong is highly rated in all aspects – meat taste, composition, charcoal aroma, soup, after-meal dishes, and accessibility – making it a place where you'll naturally want to book your next visit after just one meal.
