Recharging at Sutonggol: A Goat Stew Paradise Near Gyeryongsan National Park

Hello, it's Choksae!

Today, I'm excited to introduce Sutonggol Yeomso Myeongga, a restaurant specializing in nutritious goat stew, located at the entrance of Gyeryongsan National Park in Daejeon!

Sutonggol is a beautiful place where cherry blossoms flutter in the spring and the valley is perfect for summer retreats.

We took advantage of our company lunch break to visit. Sutonggol isn't too far away! This time, I visited with my parents. It was my first time visiting Sutonggol, and there were so many restaurants and cafes!

Among them, Sutonggol Yeomso Myeongga, which we visited today, is located on the main road with clear signage, making it easy to spot even from afar.

Even on a weekday, there were many hikers. With hiking trails and the Sutonggol Maze Park, it's a great place to hike or take a light stroll and then enjoy a nutritious black goat dish!

As I entered the restaurant, I noticed an air curtain at the entrance that blocks dust from entering. Also, there was a washbasin immediately to the left upon entering, showing their attention to cleanliness for their customers.

Sitting down and looking outside, the view was fantastic! Sutonggol Yeomso Myeongga is nestled in the mountains.

There's a spacious parking lot in front of the restaurant, so you don't have to worry about parking!


Important note: Right next door, there's a huge two-story Mega Coffee shop. It's perfect to grab a coffee after your meal!

Goat stew is a representative health food that is good for restoring energy and improving blood circulation, which helps strengthen immunity and improve joint health. I often eat it with my parents.

Today, we (3 adults) ordered goat stew for 3 people and 2 bowls of rice!

They were prominently advertising Cordyceps, which is considered a precious medicinal herb in traditional Korean medicine. It seems to be included in the black goat stew! (Known to be good for immunity, energy recovery, and strengthening the lungs and kidneys).

They also sell black goat extract.

The restaurant is very spacious and pleasant! It was very clean, perhaps because it had just opened, and the owner was very friendly. While waiting for the food, I looked around the restaurant.

Since we visited early on a weekday, there weren't any other customers, so I was able to take pictures of the inside of the restaurant.

Beautiful scenery

Since it's the main branch, the restaurant was really big! (It's probably crowded on weekends!!!!)

There were no private rooms, but there were spaces separated by partitions, so it would be good for dining in groups.

You can get additional side dishes yourself. They even had wasabi with the perilla seeds! The crown daisy stems (Gongchae) here are homemade by the owner, and they were so delicious that I added them several times.

Disposable aprons were provided everywhere, and there were also baby chairs, so it seems great for families with babies.

The cutlery was provided in drawers on each table, and there was a guidance sticker attached to the table.

First, the basic side dishes and sauce were set.

The sauce contained red pepper paste, perilla seed powder, and minced garlic!

After waiting a little, the goat stew came out!

Plenty of Cordyceps, as mentioned earlier!

They added perilla seed powder to enhance the savory flavor.

It comes fully cooked, so just boil it once and you can eat it right away.

There was also baby ginseng! 3 servings, so 3 pieces~~~

Appetizing...!

Bright future

The rich bone broth is simmered for 24 hours and contains Cordyceps and baby ginseng, making it a truly healthy and nutritious dish.
