Onion Gwangjang Market: A Sweet Escape in Seoul (My Honest Review)

As it was my first trip to Seoul in a while, I tried my best to visit as many places as possible.
Gwangjang Market had so many new things to see, and wandering around was surprisingly fun.
Among all the places I visited, there was one cafe with an exotic vibe and delicious desserts that I want to give an honest, paid-for-by-me review!

We stopped by this cafe for dessert, and it's known for its trendy atmosphere these days.
As a well-known hot spot in Jongno, it always pops up when you search for places to visit in the market.
I heard that their coffee-based drinks are delicious and their pastry pie is very popular, so we decided to try it while we were there.
My partner always likes everything we eat, but when planning our Jongno trip, he specifically said he wanted to visit this place.
Hearing that made me curious, so we headed to Onion, a popular spot in Gwangjang Market.
If you come out of Jongno 5(o)-ga Station Exit 7 and go straight, you can see it right away when you turn right.
There were tables outside, but since it was extremely hot, we decided to go inside.
As it is in the market, there was no dedicated parking space.
Inside
When you go inside, you can feel the exotic atmosphere.
We arrived around 3 PM on Sunday, and there was no waiting and plenty of seats, so we were able to order and eat more comfortably than expected.
Perhaps Jongno Traditional Market is more famous among foreigners than Koreans, because all the people inside enjoying the pie and drinks were foreign tourists.
Menu and What We Ordered
Pastry Pie 1 piece (including 1 strawberry jam) ₩4,000
Americano ₩3,500
Hazelnut Latte ₩5,000
These three items are their most popular. A whole pie (8 slices) + 4 jams costs ₩29,000.

I bought it and ate it myself.
📝 Food Review
Tada! This is Onion Gwangjang Market's signature menu item: the pastry pie!
Every time I go to a dessert shop these days, I notice that the slice sizes have gotten a lot smaller.
But even though this place is a popular hot spot, the size was surprisingly decent.
And when I actually received it, it looked even better, so I was glad I came with my partner.
They give you a fork and knife, so you can cut it into bite-sized pieces and eat it.
The crispy sound as my partner cut it stimulated my appetite, even though I was already full.
The layered pie is delicious on its own, but it's even better when you put Onion Gwangjang Market's homemade strawberry jam on it.
We both said we were full, but we forgot about our conversation and ate it like crazy. lol
We also had a lot of bread we had packaged from other bakeries, and we visited when it was extremely hot, so we only tasted it here and left.
If I have a chance to visit Jongno 5(o)-ga Station again, I would like to pack a whole pie next time.
The price is not bad, and it seems good as a gift, so I still regret coming empty-handed. It's a hot place that I often think about.
