Ongmigwan Anguk: Korean Soul Food Near Anguk Station That Makes You Feel Like Royalty!

I revisited Ongmigwan Anguk, a Korean restaurant near Anguk Station, thanks to a recommendation from a friend. Honestly, how can I even describe the taste? I was introduced to it by a friend, and the flavor lingered in my mind for days, eventually leading me back! Is this what addiction feels like? My previous visit was so satisfying that I decided to write a detailed review this time!
Ongmigwan Anguk
Address: 5-4, Bukchon-ro 2-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

A Feast of Seoul-style Bulgogi That Rivals a King's Meal!
The reason I titled this "Today, I am King!" is because of this Seoul-style Bulgogi. As soon as I stepped inside, the serene atmosphere of the traditional Korean house and the sweet aroma of the Bulgogi wafting from the table felt like a journey back in time. Thinly sliced beef simmering in broth... it was so tempting! I could barely resist.
The moment I took a bite, I thought, "Wow... this is insane!" The tender beef melted in my mouth, releasing a deep, savory flavor that wasn't overly sweet. The combination with the fresh vegetables was simply divine! Wrapping it in lettuce and taking a big bite filled me with satisfaction – truly fit for a king. One bowl of rice was not enough, and I seriously considered ordering another.
Enjoy a Hearty Meal Amidst the Charm of Bukchon Hanok Village!
Ongmigwan Anguk is located at 5-4, Bukchon-ro 2-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, which is easily accessible from Anguk Station. Especially since it is located at the beginning of Bukchon Hanok Village, it's perfect for a stroll before or after your meal. Enjoying delicious Korean food amongst the tranquil traditional houses felt like a proper healing experience in the heart of Seoul. The operating hours are from 11:00 to 22:00 daily, with the last order at 21:30, which is convenient.
They also serve a variety of other dishes such as Bossam (boiled pork), Potato Pancake, Korean Beef Intestine Hot Pot, Gomtang (bone broth soup), and Naengmyeon (cold noodles - both water and spicy versions). Last time, I shared several dishes with my friends. The Bossam was tender and clean, without any unpleasant smell, and the Potato Pancake was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This time I focused on the Bulgogi, but all the other dishes were delicious, so I vowed to try the Korean Beef Intestine Hot Pot next time.
Ongmigwan Anguk, 200% Revisit Rate!!
Honestly, many restaurants that are rumored to be great fall short of expectations. But Ongmigwan Anguk... truly exceeded my expectations. The clean and neat atmosphere, the friendly staff, and above all, the fantastic taste of the food that captivates your taste buds! It's a place where all three elements come together perfectly. Who knew I would find such a gem while visiting a friend!
Leaving the restaurant, I had only one thought: "I have to come back soon!!" The Seoul-style Bulgogi, in particular, is something I want to recommend to everyone. It's perfect for bringing your parents or as a date spot. If you're looking for a proper Korean restaurant near Anguk Station, I highly recommend Ongmigwan Anguk! You won't regret it. I'm already planning my next visit.
