Nodogodeungeohoe: An Impressive Mackerel Feast in Jeju

During a recent family trip, we stumbled upon Nodogodeungeohoe, a mackerel restaurant in Jeju Jungmun. This seafood restaurant uses fresh ingredients and offers great value for money. We were so impressed that we're already planning a return visit on our next trip!
1. Location & Address
Nodogodeungeohoe is just a 1-minute drive from Sasuhaeng. Located at 1st floor, 364 Seohaean-ro, Jeju-si, it's also conveniently close to the airport. They are open daily from 12:00 to 23:45, with no days off.
The building is large and stylish, with the name prominently displayed, making it easy to find. There's also a parking lot right in front, which is very convenient.
Inside, the interior is warm, clean, and well-maintained. There are plenty of tables, making it suitable for group visits.
A self-service bar is available with a good selection of side dishes.
2. The Mackerel Set Menu
We sat at an outdoor table with a sea view and ordered. Soon, a variety of dishes filled our table, including sweet potato tempura, mackerel sashimi, mantis shrimp sashimi, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), and abalone butter grill.
The menu offers a diverse range of seafood options, providing excellent value. The use of fresh ingredients is particularly reassuring.
The side dishes were plentiful and neatly arranged, with a variety of sauces, kimchi, and seasoned vegetables that perfectly complemented the seafood.
The sweet potato tempura was crispy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. The portion size was generous.
There were several dipping sauces available, including gochujang, soy sauce, doenjang sauce and chives sauce. This allowed us to customize the flavors and enhanced the overall dining experience.
3. The Main Attraction: Mackerel Sashimi
The highlight of the meal was the mackerel sashimi. The mackerel was high-quality and the portion was generous. The fresh, sea scent was immediately apparent.
The texture of the mackerel was incredibly chewy, and the flavor was both sweet and savory.
One of the best ways to enjoy the mackerel is with seaweed. The mackerel was sliced fresh and thick. Wrapping it in seaweed added depth and complexity to the flavor.
They also provided seasoned rice for making sushi. The rice was slightly sweet and tangy, and it was delicious on its own or wrapped in seaweed.
4. Mantis Shrimp Sashimi
The mantis shrimp sashimi was also excellent. It was easy to eat, with the shells already removed. The shrimp was glossy and fresh.
The combination of the sweet shrimp and spicy gochujang sauce was amazing.
5. Assorted Mulhoe (Cold Raw Fish Soup)
After enjoying the main dishes, we ordered the assorted mulhoe. It was packed with seafood.
The seafood was cut into bite-sized pieces, and the broth was refreshing and flavorful.
The high-quality seafood and rich broth made this dish a standout.
6. Abalone Butter Grill
We also ordered the abalone butter grill. The aroma of butter was irresistible, and the abalone was large and plentiful.
The fresh mackerel sashimi and the variety of seafood were all excellent. The Jeju Jungmun Mackerel Restaurant was worth the trip. If you're planning a summer vacation to Jeju Island, I highly recommend visiting.
