Special Moment

It's finally mid-November... and that means it's time for a specific dish!

It's Daebang-eo (giant yellowtail), a winter delicacy!

I immediately gathered my friends, exclaiming, "Guys, the time has come!" and headed straight to 'Gimpo Daebang-eo Daeha-gui,' a renowned Daebang-eo restaurant in Gochon!

Let me share my review of the Daebang-eo set menu.

Restaurant Information

Name: Gimpo Daebang-eo Daeha-gui

Address: 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, Sangga-dong, 31-1, Yangdoro 19beon-gil, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do

Hours: 13:00-24:00 (Last Order 23:00)

1. Daebang-eo Set - A Must-Order!

I went with three friends, and the 'Daebang-eo Set' immediately caught our eye!

Priced at ₩129,000 for three people, the value for the composition seemed incredible.

The set included Daebang-eo sashimi, steamed oysters, 4 pieces of fried oysters, 4 pieces of rock oysters, and even ingredients for making your own sushi.

It was more than just a yellowtail party; it was a seafood extravaganza!

My friends and I were thrilled, saying, "If we order this, we won't need anything else!"

As soon as the set menu arrived, we were amazed by the visuals and the freshness!

Thickly sliced Daebang-eo sashimi glistened, and next to it was a pot of warm steamed oysters.

(The fried oysters and rock oysters were brought out shortly after...)

I love oysters, and I was so impressed to be able to enjoy them in so many different ways.

2. The Art of Thick-Cut Daebang-eo Sashimi

I started with the main dish, the Daebang-eo sashimi, and as soon as I put it in my mouth, I exclaimed, "Wow...!"

The rich, savory flavor of the fat spread throughout my mouth with every bite – that's the charm of winter yellowtail!

The texture was chewy yet tender, and there was absolutely no fishy taste; it was perfectly clean.

Placing the yellowtail sashimi on the provided sushi rice and adding a touch of wasabi... it was simply divine.

The combination of the rice and the thick-cut fish was fantastic.

3. Chewy Steamed Oysters and Crispy Fried Oysters

The steamed oysters included in the set menu released a fragrant aroma of the sea as soon as the pot lid was opened. The staff kindly checked if they were cooked and even showed us how to shuck the oysters!

So kind.

Following their instructions, I found that the oysters were plump and juicy, making them a delight to eat!

The unique flavor and moistness were wonderful, and they were delicious even without chili sauce or wasabi.

And then there were the fried oysters! I don't usually enjoy fried foods, but these fried oysters were exceptional!

The outside was crispy, and the inside retained the oyster's unique moisture. The batter wasn't too thick, so it didn't overpower the oyster's natural flavor.

I was disappointed that there were only 4 pieces, so I ordered more separately. The quality of the fried oysters was definitely elevated by the fresh ingredients.

4. A Perfect Finish with Self-Serve Menu Items!

When you're almost done with the sashimi, you want something to round out the meal, right?

The self-serve menu items prepared for this moment were truly thoughtful.

We already had the self-made sushi in the set, but we added the self-serve ramen (₩6,000) to finish, and it was another treat!

The spicy broth with plenty of seafood and chewy noodles felt like it was cleansing the palate after the richness of the yellowtail.

There was also Maesaengi (seaweed) Oyster Rice Cake Soup (₩10,000), and a bowl of warm rice cake soup would be perfect for a chilly day. I'm going to try that next time!!

(I'm a big fan of Maesaengi...)

The greatest advantage of this place is that they have a variety of side dishes, so you can choose according to your taste.

Where else can you try so many dishes at once!

Overall Review of Gochon Daebang-eo: Worth Every Penny

My visit to this Gochon Daebang-eo restaurant boasted freshness and quality that was worth every penny.

In particular, I can confidently say that the Daebang-eo set is the best in terms of value and composition!!

I was lucky enough to visit on the day they started serving Daebang-eo, so now is the perfect time to enjoy the season!

I will definitely be revisiting!

Next time, I want to order the Salmon and Daebang-eo Platter (₩105,000 for 4 people) and enjoy a feast!

The old-fashioned atmosphere makes it great for dates, and I highly recommend it as a year-end gathering place for friends!

If you want to spend a happy time with delicious winter seafood, don't hesitate to head to Gimpo Daebang-eo Daeha-gui!

You won't regret it!
