Modern Nulang Jamsil: Highly Recommended for Company Dinners and Family Gatherings!

A Chinese Fine Dining Restaurant – Modern Nulang Jamsil
Modern Nulang Jamsil
Location: Sofitel B1, Jamsil, Songpa-gu
Parking: Hotel Parking
Hours: Daily 11:30 AM ~ 10:00 PM
I recently visited Modern Nulang Jamsil with my team for a company lunch.
We went on a Monday, and it was surprisingly crowded for a weekday lunch.
After passing through the elegant entrance, we were pleased to be guided to a private room.
(Turns out a team member had already made a reservation!)
The table settings were beautifully layered, with a sophisticated combination of tableware.
They serve tea as the default water, which felt cleansing and aided digestion.
Unfortunately, I couldn't take a picture of the menu because it was a company dinner. Here are some representative menu items:
Main Menu
(Weekday Lunch Course) ₩43,000 / ₩53,000 / ₩65,000
(Weekend Lunch Course) ₩58,000
(All-day Course) ₩75,000 / ₩90,000 / ₩120,000
Braised Pork Belly (Dongpoyuk): ₩46,000
Shanghai Roll Platter: ₩45,000
Mint Lime Shrimp: ₩40,000
Sweet and Sour Chicken (Yuringi): ₩37,000
Seafood and Rice Soup (Nurungjitang): ₩55,000
Eggplant in Garlic Sauce (Yuxiang Eggplant): ₩35,000
I visited for a weekday lunch and had the ₩53,000 course.
If you're ordering a la carte, the Braised Pork Belly and Mint Lime Shrimp are apparently very popular.
(I say "apparently" because I didn't get to try either of them... ㅜㅜ)
<Soup>
Spinach and Crab Soup
I couldn't really taste the spinach.
It was a thick crab soup with a starchy consistency.
Perfect for warming up the stomach before the meal.
<Appetizer>
Cold Dish Platter (3 kinds)
Soy-braised egg (or something similar)...
It's a common dish in Chinese cuisine.
I heard it usually has a distinct smell, but I didn't detect any unpleasant odors. It was mild and tasty.
Shrimp and abalone cold dish.
Everything was subtly flavored and clean.
Time to prepare for the main dishes!
<Main Dish>
Buddha's Delight (Palbochae), Black Pepper Steak, Sweet and Sour Pork (Tangsuyuk)
Buddha's Delight (Palbochae)
I don't usually order Palbochae when eating Chinese food.
But if you like vegetables and seafood, you can't help but love this dish!
The sauce looks like it would be strong, but the seafood wasn't seasoned heavily.
The combination was perfect.
Black Pepper Tenderloin Steak
A course meal isn't complete without meat!
And it's my favorite: tenderloin steak!
It couldn't possibly be bad.
But what was even more special was the asparagus!
The asparagus was incredibly crisp and fresh.
I wondered how it could be so fresh.
Sweet and Sour Pork (Tangsuyuk)
Modern Nulang is a fusion Chinese restaurant, right?
And the basics of Chinese cuisine are Jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and Tangsuyuk...
This was the best Tangsuyuk I've had in recent memory.
So crispy, with just the right amount of sauce.
It's served with the sauce already on it (bu-meok style), but it was still so crispy!
Completely satisfied.
<Noodle or Rice>
Choice of: XO Sauce Jajangmyeon, Seafood Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), or Fried Rice
I chose the Jajangmyeon, and a team member next to me chose the Jjamppong.
(I didn't want to sweat from eating something spicy...)
I was so full, I wondered if I could even eat it, but...
I can't resist delicious food!
The Jjamppong was also loaded with seafood.
Very satisfying ㅎㅎ
<Dessert>
Homemade Mango Pudding
Lastly, the dessert was homemade mango pudding!
I'm not a big dessert person, but...
This was really delicious.
It tasted like it had coconut milk in it.
So smooth and creamy, and it went perfectly with the mango.
Honestly, I wanted to eat one or two more.
Modern Nulang Overall Review
- Variety of lunch course options
- Good for gatherings with both private rooms and open seating
- Convenient location with 2 hours of free parking
- Blue Ribbon Restaurant!
All the dishes were above average in taste.
Clean and neat atmosphere with both private rooms and open seating available!
And you can enjoy the course meals at a reasonable price!
That's all for my review of Modern Nulang Jamsil.
Paid for by the company! (Company money, company purchase!)
