Minam Pocha: Highly Recommended Snow Crab Restaurant in Pohang

I recently took a trip to enjoy the sea and explore famous restaurants. Pohang is known for its Jukdo Market, and I found a popular seafood restaurant where you can dine while overlooking the ocean. The restaurant, Minam Pocha, is famous for its generous portions, so I chose it without hesitation.
1. Location & Address Information
Minam Pocha is located about a 5-minute walk from Pohang Yeongildae Beach. There are many famous hotels nearby, making it easily accessible for tourists. The eye-catching building has a large, striking blue sign.
The restaurant is right in front of the ocean, offering fantastic views. After the meal, I took a walk along the beach, which was very relaxing. It's open from 10 AM to 2 AM, so you can have lunch there as well.
The interior is modern and clean. There are large tables for groups, making it suitable for gatherings or company dinners. The restaurant was also very clean and well-maintained.
One side of the restaurant faces the outside, providing a view of the sea. The weather was pleasant, so they opened the windows, and a cool sea breeze made the experience even more enjoyable. After looking at the menu, I ordered the Minam Pocha Special, which includes snow crab.
2. A Table Full of Delights
Shortly after ordering, the table was filled with food. The variety of side dishes was so abundant that the table seemed to be bending under the weight. It was hard to decide what to try first!
I started with the seaweed soup. It was made with rich, domestically produced seaweed, making it very smooth and easy to swallow. The savory flavor stimulated my appetite, allowing me to enjoy the other dishes even more.
The live octopus dish, a must-have at any seafood restaurant, was freshly prepared, making it incredibly fresh. It was still moving, which made it fun to eat, and the octopus was very tender. The tentacles were especially chewy and savory, hitting all the right notes.
The marinated flounder was also served, and it was moist, indicating it had just been prepared. It was served warm, so there was no fishy smell, and the flesh was tender and savory.
There were many side dishes that children would enjoy, making it an ideal place for family outings. I thought ordering rice to eat with the fish would be very satisfying.
The highlight of the meal was the sashimi and snow crab. Being able to enjoy these must-have seafood dishes at once was very satisfying. Everything was served in a generous and beautiful manner, so I took lots of photos.
3. Assorted Sashimi Platter
The assorted sashimi is prepared immediately after ordering, so it takes a little longer, but you can enjoy incredibly fresh sashimi. The plating was elegant, and the sashimi had a glossy sheen that stimulated my appetite. I realized that the quality of the same dish can vary depending on how it's presented.
The advantage of the assorted sashimi was that I could taste various cuts. This made the experience enjoyable from the first bite to the last, and each piece had a different taste, texture, and aroma. I focused on savoring each one.
The sashimi had a clear, reddish hue and a beautiful texture. It was a lean fish, making it very savory. It was rich, tender, and had a buttery aroma.
The sashimi at Minam Pocha was thick. Thin sashimi disappears before you can enjoy the texture, which is disappointing. However, the thick cuts here allowed me to savor the chewiness for a long time, which was very satisfying.
They provided a variety of sauces, including red pepper paste, soy sauce, and soybean paste, to eat with the sashimi. Dipping the sashimi in different sauces each time made it special. The soybean paste, in particular, was both salty and savory, earning a thumbs up.
4. Steamed Snow Crab
The snow crab at Minam Pocha was impressively large. It was taken straight from the steamer and cut for easy eating. The luxurious and glossy crab legs were mouthwatering.
The meat yield was amazing, with the legs filled with meat. Just one leg was enough to feel full, and the meat was tender and not dry at all, making it addictive.
Eating it hot, I didn't notice any fishy smell. Every bite released a salty juice that enveloped my mouth, and the sweet crab meat was the best.
The crab tomalley (innards) inside the shell was especially delicious. It had a rich flavor that tasted like the ocean, and its deep savoriness captivated me. There was plenty of it, so I used it as a sauce to dip the crab meat in.
5. Snow Crab Fried Rice
The leftover crab tomalley was transformed into fried rice. The concentrated flavor of the crab permeated the fluffy rice.
Various vegetables and seaweed flakes added to the flavor. Eating it with kimchi was fantastic.
6. Yeongildae Minam Pocha Spicy Fish Stew (Maeuntang)
I chose maeuntang as the final dish. It was fun to pick out the various ingredients like tofu, fish, and vegetables. The long-simmered broth was very refreshing and spicy, which I loved.
The B course I enjoyed at Minam Pocha was perfect in every way. I was very satisfied with the meal. If you are nearby, I highly recommend visiting.
