Late-Night Comfort Food: A Review of Don Su Baek in Hongdae

Hello, I'm Yamujjin!
I absolutely love *gukbap* (Korean rice soup).
So, I often eat it even in the summer! :)
I went to Hongdae to play an escape room game and decided to grab some *gukbap* while I was there.

My Honest Review
Here's the exterior of Don Su Baek.
A 24-hour *gukbap* place in Hongdae!
I visited around noon on a weekday, and there were so many people eating alone, and lots of people coming for lunch. The first floor was already full, so I went up to the second floor.
True to its reputation as a popular lunch and *gukbap* spot in Hongdae, Don Su Baek was packed even at lunchtime.
Let's go up to the second floor.
Almost all the seats were taken on the second floor too.
My expectations for Don Su Baek, a famous *gukbap* restaurant in Hongdae, are growing.
Each table has spoons, tissues, and side dishes.
You order at the kiosk.
The menu we ordered (for two people):
Ordered Menu (for 2 people)
- Two *Don Tangban*
Since I heard it's a famous *gukbap* restaurant in Hongdae, I ordered *gukbap* without hesitation.
They also serve alcohol, so I feel like a lot of people come here to cure their hangovers.
Our *Don Tangban* has arrived.
It comes with meat and green onions in a milky broth.
*Don Tangban* only has meat, so I recommend it for those who can't eat *sundae gukbap* (blood sausage soup) or are trying *gukbap* for the first time!
Perhaps because it's a popular lunch and *gukbap* restaurant in Hongdae, the *Don Tangban* came out right away after we ordered.
*Gukbap* that's delicious even in the summer.
The *gukbap* is bubbling away,
and a delicious *gukbap* smell wafts over.
There's a lot of meat in it too.
*Don Tangban* is ₩9,000, but look at the amount of meat...?
The meat didn't have any gamey smell and was tender.
The broth was mild. It's a broth that I want to eat as is, without any seasoning.
I enjoyed the pure *gukbap*, and now I'm going to add chives and eat it.

Mix it well after adding the chives.
The fun of eating *gukbap* is that you eat it plain at first and then add seasonings.
There's also salt, salted shrimp, and seasoning sauce, so if it's bland, you can add those and eat it!
What's great about Don Su Baek is that they give you *somyeon* (thin wheat noodles).
I often put *somyeon* in *seolleongtang* (ox bone soup),
and I think the *somyeon* went even better with the mild broth of Don Su Baek's *Don Tangban*.

Be sure to put in the *somyeon* and eat it with kimchi.
*Gukbap* is, after all!
*Gukbap*!
It's most delicious to eat with rice mixed in.
A price of less than ₩10,000, open 24 hours, and located in Hongdae.
Don Su Baek is a great lunch spot, a *gukbap* 맛집 (delicious restaurant), and an affordable restaurant in Hongdae.
I enjoyed my meal today.

*Gukbap* starts at ₩10,000 these days, so I'm happy to have found a *gukbap* restaurant in Hongdae that costs less than ₩10,000.
The price is cheap, and it's delicious, so Don Su Baek Hongdae Branch is a great value restaurant!
I understand why there are so many people eating alone and people coming for lunch.
It's the first time I've seen a *gukbap* restaurant that's packed at lunchtime. There will probably be a lot of people during hangover-curing hours!

I recommend Don Su Baek Hongdae Branch to those looking for *gukbap* or a lunch spot in Hongdae!
So far, this has been my honest review of Don Su Baek Hongdae Branch.
Thank you.
