Struggling to decide what to eat on the weekend, I suddenly had a craving for jokbal (pig's trotters).
I've always loved jokbal and gukbap (soup with rice), so this time I visited Koryeo Jokbal Sundae, known as a Gumi Station 맛집 (delicious restaurant).
It's located inside the Sundae Alley of the Gumi Saemaul Central Market, so you can also experience the market's unique vibrant atmosphere.
I had high expectations because they've been in business for over 30 years, and after trying it, I understood why Koryeo Jokbal has been loved for so long in Gumi.
I ordered the muchim jokbal (spicy mixed pig's trotters) (small) and two servings of dwaeji gukbap (pork rice soup) for takeout.
Exterior & Parking
Koryeo Jokbal Sundae is located in Wonpyeong-dong, Gumi, making it close to Gumi Station and easy to find.
Since it's in a market alley, parking might be a concern for those coming by car, but fortunately, it was convenient to use the Gumi Saemaul Central Market parking lot.
The best part was that when I told the owner, they immediately gave me a 30-minute free parking ticket.
I heard you can use up to 4 tickets in the market, so it's good to keep in mind when you come for shopping or dining.
After the initial 30 minutes, it's an additional ₩200 per 10 minutes, but the price wasn't burdensome.
Interior & Menu
Perhaps because it's a store in the market, the atmosphere was friendly and simple.
As soon as I entered, the elderly owner greeted me warmly, and I still remember that warm smile.
I went with my child, and while slicing the jokbal, they offered a piece to my child to try first. That's the real charm of a market restaurant.
I ordered muchim jokbal (small) (₩20,000) and dwaeji gukbap (₩8,000 × 2).
As soon as I ordered, they sliced the jokbal and mixed it with vegetables and seasoning on the spot, making it look even fresher.
Looking at the menu, there were various options such as sundae gukbap (sundae rice soup), suyuk (boiled pork slices), pyeonyuk (pressed meat), and a plate of sundae (Korean sausage).
Especially, this place is known as a "Gumi Gukbap 맛집 (delicious restaurant)".
Food Review
I immediately put the muchim jokbal I had taken out for dinner on the table, and wow… as soon as I opened the packaging, the savory sesame oil scent wafted up and made my mouth water.
The jokbal had a great texture and no unpleasant smell, and the spicy chili and garlic seasoning went very well with it. It was perfect as a side dish with rice, and it was also great as an alcoholic beverage.
The next morning, I cooked and ate the dwaeji gukbap I had taken out, and the broth was clean and savory.
There was no porky smell, and it was easy on my stomach, so I could start the day feeling full and energized.
Above all, they put a generous amount of meat in it, so even though it was two servings, the portion was plentiful.
It felt like they really took good care of me.
Menu Recommendation & Delivery Information
I only tried the muchim jokbal and dwaeji gukbap this time, but next time I definitely want to try the suyuk or sundae.
Since the combination of jokbal and gukbap goes so well together, it would be great to come with my family and order a variety of dishes.
Also, they offer delivery for those who live far away.
They pack it in an icebox, so it's great to be able to enjoy the taste of market jokbal at home.

The real advantage of this place was not only the taste of the food but also the kindness of the owner.
I was touched when they gave my child a piece of jokbal, and I really liked how they carefully packed everything when I took it out.
Also, this place is closed on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month, so please keep that in mind when you visit.
Overall Review
In conclusion, Koryeo Jokbal Sundae, which I visited this time, was not just a market jokbal restaurant but a 맛집 (delicious restaurant) that has been built up over many years with sincerity and great taste.
If you like Gumi Jokbal, you'll definitely be satisfied.
The muchim jokbal was perfect for dinner, and the dwaeji gukbap was a hearty breakfast.
From now on, I think I'll be visiting them as a regular whenever I crave it.
I recommend it to those looking for a Gumi Station 맛집 (delicious restaurant) and those who want to enjoy a hearty Gumi Gukbap.
