Kim Satgat: A Delicious and Unexpected Find in Wonju, Gangwon-do

I was so hungry I hadn't eaten a single meal all day. I was so hungry I felt as if my stomach was stuck to my back, is that the saying? I was so famished I could have chewed on a signpost!
That's when I stumbled upon Kim Satgat in Wonju, Gangwon-do.
The scenery itself had that comforting, rural feel.
Though my stomach was growling, I still wanted to soak in the view.

The interior of Kim Satgat, a Korean restaurant in Gangwon-do, had a cozy ambiance that fit the surroundings. My eyes were immediately drawn to the jars of infused liquor displayed prominently.
And the menu... it featured fresh, creatively named makgeolli (rice wine) and dongdongju (another type of rice wine). Some of the names, like 'Beol Tteok Ju' (literally 'Get Up Wine'), were a little embarrassing!
They also had Sansam Ju (ginseng wine), Haneul Dari Gureum Ju (Sky Bridge Cloud Wine) from Wonju, and Deodeok Ju (lanceolata wine) - names I hadn't encountered before. The variety of traditional Korean liquors was definitely memorable.

But... my stomach was protesting way too loudly! I think it's a one-person operation, so the food took a little while to come out.
But you have to understand! At Kim Satgat in Wonju, Gangwon-do, I ordered kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), and o-dwaeji bokkeum (spicy pork belly stir-fry), which is only available for two or more people.
First out was the o-dwaeji bokkeum, along with perilla leaves, stir-fried shishito peppers, quail eggs with shishito peppers, stir-fried anchovies, and more. The homemade visual immediately captivated me.

And the taste? I had no expectations, just hunger driving me. I randomly picked Kim Satgat among the other restaurants there and it was such a good choice!
But from the side dishes to the main course, everything suited my taste perfectly!
Even just eating that, I was looking forward to the kimchi jjigae and sundubu jjigae that hadn't come out yet and it was delicious!!!

Wow!
That feeling of finding a hidden gem when you went in without any expectations!
More than just tasting better because I was hungry, it was simply delicious!
Then I ordered some makgeolli too!
Haneul Dari Gureum Ju (Sky Bridge Cloud Wine).
I scraped everything clean.
It's not the prettiest visual because it's all scraped up!

Kim Satgat Korean Restaurant in Wonju, Gangwon-do exceeded my expectations. This place is certified 맛집 (mat-jib, meaning 'restaurant with great taste').
I ate well and left.
Oh, and as a final touch, the owner gave me some corn.
It tasted even sweeter eaten in Gangwon-do!
