Khamnamu Restaurant: Conquering Yangyang's Most Popular Hangover Soup Spot!

Khamnamu Restaurant is arguably the most popular restaurant in Yangyang, known for its long waits.
They mainly sell dried pollack soup (Hwangtae Gukbap), and it was a mysterious place I was curious about but never dared to try...
But on this trip, I bravely decided to attempt an 'open run' (arriving right when they open)!
The result...?
⏰ Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Closed on Thursdays
I honestly didn't think I'd actually wake up and go, but there we were, scrambling to get ready.
It was only possible because it was close to the hotel.
We arrived around 7:05 AM, and the parking lot was already almost full.
Parking is available, but because so many people are waiting, it seems like it's often full.
Apparently, you can park at the Lifelong Learning Center in that case.
Luckily, we found a spot and parked!
The restaurant was already packed, and we received a waiting number.
A sad moment!
They call out numbers, so we had to wait in the waiting area outside.
Number 23...!
Even though it seemed like the number they handed out to the first customers, we didn't wait as long as I thought.
Maybe 30-40 minutes? We got in!
It felt like we went in right after one group left!
Here's the menu at Khamnamu Restaurant.
The restaurant was filled with a savory aroma that whetted our appetites.
All four of us went with the Hwangtae Gukbap.
The hearty soup has rice already mixed in.
Oh, it smells so good! The side dishes all look delicious, and grilled sandfish is provided for free!
Additional servings cost 4,000 won.
It's very hot, so be careful not to inhale it too quickly!
It's almost like porridge? It was a different taste from typical Gukbap.
This is the texture.
The savory flavor of the Hwangtae Gukbap was excellent.
A big YES for me!
Because we got up early and didn't have to wait too long, I'd definitely go back to eat it again.
The squid jeotgal (salted seafood), one of the side dishes, was so delicious that I bought some to take home.
To be honest, I couldn't really taste the dried pollack because it was so finely ground, but I liked the gentle flavor and savoriness that wasn't too heavy for breakfast.
Securing parking can be an issue...
But I enjoyed the meal and successfully parked, so I'm leaving a satisfied review!
