Jeju Gomjip: My Top Pick for Black Pork in Seogwipo!

Hello,
It's Nyamnyam Sister here!
If you're visiting Jeju Island, one dinner menu you can't miss is
Black pork, of course!
But with so many black pork restaurants,
It's hard to know where to go.
This time, I visited Jeju Gomjip in Seogwipo.
There's even a photo of celebrity Choo Sung-hoon visiting
Hanging at the entrance, making it
A well-known spot.
I wondered if it truly captured the heart of a real "ahjussi" (middle-aged man),
So I tried it out with my own money.
Jeju Gomjip
Address: 733, Ieodo-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
Hours: 11:00 AM ~ 10:00 PM (Daily, Last Order 9:30 PM)

Popular Dishes: Black Pork Ogyeopsal (Pork Belly), Moksal (Pork Neck), Black Pork + Seafood Combo,
Seafood Udon Stir-fry, Seafood Soybean Paste Stew, etc.
I visited on a Sunday evening
And was able to enter without any waiting.
The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of seating,
There were many families,
But also quite a few couples.
The lighting is bright, and the interior is clean,
And the food comes out relatively quickly.
The staff were also friendly and helpful!
We ordered 2 servings of Black Pork Ogyeopsal (400g): ₩46,000
And Seafood Soybean Paste Stew (₩7,000).
Since we came all the way to Jeju Island, pork is a must,
And I wanted to try the soybean paste stew with seafood,
So we ordered it together.
Honestly, the black pork I had this time was
The best I've had in Jeju so far.
1) Juiciness & Texture: No gamey smell at all, not tough, and the crispy skin was amazing.
2) Grilling Service: At first, the staff grilled the meat for us, so we could eat comfortably. After that, we grilled it ourselves, just flipping it occasionally, but it was still delicious.
3) How to Eat It
For the first bite, I just lightly dipped it in salt,
And the deep flavor of the black pork really came through.

Wrapped in homemade spicy cabbage salad, it was crazy good.
This sauce was the highlight, so I kept eating it.
You can eat it without feeling greasy by eating the cooked greens with the brown sauce.
Personally, I think the most perfect flavor routine was eating a bite with salt and then a bite with sauce, alternating.
The side dishes were generally fresh,
And the greens, in particular, did a good job of balancing any richness.
Refills were available, so there was plenty.

The seafood soybean paste stew we ordered
Had plenty of seafood in it,
And I could taste a deep savory flavor in the broth.
Since I prefer spicy soybean paste stew,
I felt it was a little lacking,
But I recommend it to those who like seafood.
Next time, I'll definitely have to try the restaurant's signature
Seafood Udon Stir-fry.

Tips
- There is a large dedicated parking lot, so you don't have to worry about parking.
- If you are staying nearby,
They offer a pick-up service, so keep that in mind.
- The staff seemed proud of their pork
And were very friendly with their explanations, which was impressive.
Black pork prices are similar everywhere in Jeju,
But I think this quality is worth the price.
Considering the quality and taste of the pork, the service, and the atmosphere,
I was very satisfied.
Rating: 4/5 stars
I would like to visit again,
But there are so many black pork restaurants in Jeju,
I also want to try other places.
Which black pork restaurant was
The most delicious one you've ever eaten?
