Itaewon Teppan: A Hidden Gem Blending Japanese Tradition with Modern Flavors

Located near Itaewon Station, Itaewon Teppan is more than just another izakaya. It's a place that harmoniously blends traditional Japanese flavors with unique modern elements, making it a great spot for catching up with friends.
From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a cozy and comforting atmosphere, and the intriguing aroma of spice in the air.
That aroma led me to the Whole Squid Jjampong Tang (spicy seafood noodle soup). The fresh seafood swimming in the spicy broth created a delightful sensation with every bite.
The moderately spicy and savory broth was subtly addictive, and the crispy fried squid created an unforgettable flavor combination.
The charm of this place also shines through in its diverse menu. Kimchi Jjim (braised kimchi), Sous Vide Seiro-mushi (steamed dishes), and Kansai Oden (Japanese hot pot) are just a few of the tempting options. The Kimchi Jjim was especially memorable, with its spicy and rich flavor enveloping the palate and leaving a lingering impression.
The Shrimp and Potato Pancake (sae-woo gamja jeon) was another highlight, with its crispy and savory flavor that kept me reaching for more.
The Pork Belly and Potato Pancake (samgyup gamja jeon) and Flat Dumpling with Spicy Noodles (napjak mandu jjolmyeon) are perfect for sharing with friends, offering a chance to bond over delicious flavors.
I felt truly happy as I savored the diverse and harmonious flavors of all the dishes.
The service was exceptional. Thanks to the friendly staff, I enjoyed my meal in a pleasant atmosphere where I could comfortably ask for anything I needed. This made my time there even more enjoyable.
Also, the time spent waiting for the food didn't feel long at all because the staff took the time to explain each dish and offer recommendations. I believe the level of service at Itaewon Teppan is rare among Itaewon restaurants.
The warm lighting and music created a unique atmosphere, making the entire experience a precious memory.
Among the unique dishes at Itaewon Teppan, the Grilled Brie Cheese and Mero Gui (grilled black cod) are not to be missed. The Brie cheese melted softly in my mouth, offering a delicate yet rich and savory flavor.
The Mero Gui was exquisite with its savory taste. Each bite released a burst of savory goodness that intensified with chewing.
When you encounter these culinary gems, you understand why you keep thinking about this place.
Each dish has its own unique charm, making a single visit feel insufficient. I was able to explore a new world of flavors by experiencing such a diverse range of dishes.
