Is More Expensive Wine Always Better?

Living in the UK, I usually buy affordable wines from the supermarket, around £7-10. Back in Korea, I also enjoyed good value wines, so I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the inexpensive wines were here in the UK. I treated my sister to a summer limited-edition Sauvignon Blanc from Waitrose that I really loved, but she wasn't too impressed. So, she bought a slightly more expensive wine for us to try together.
I don't know much about wine, but after trying what my sister bought, I could definitely tell that the more expensive wine had a deeper and more diverse flavor profile.
There was a Sauvignon Blanc with an oaky aroma, the name of which I can't remember, but it wasn't really my taste. I'm writing this down so I don't forget next time.
I prefer crisp and refreshing wines with good value. I discovered a summer wine at Waitrose that perfectly matched my taste and bought a bunch to share with my sister, but she wasn't a fan. 😅
After drinking delicious wine, going back to cheaper wine just wasn't the same. That's when I realized there's a reason why some wines are more expensive… I stopped drinking my summer wine for a while, but recently started enjoying it again. 😄
If you like Sauvignon Blanc, I recommend Sancerre.
It's a French wine that's similar to the Sauvignon Blancs I've had, but with a floral aroma and crispness that made it a really enjoyable wine.
I found a British wine and was curious to try it.
I'm used to seeing wines from New Zealand, France, and Italy, but I saw a British wine and decided to give it a try.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. Everyone who tried it just nodded and said, "Hmm… not bad."
Like British food, I didn't have high expectations, but it was better than I thought. 😊
Here's an introduction to a Korean meal for guests at home.

Kimchi Stew with Iberico Pork
I buy Iberico pork from Costco and grill it, and sometimes add it to stews or ramen. It's savory and delicious. For the kimchi stew, I order whole cabbages of kimchi from H Mart.
Jjamppong Ramen and Jjapaghetti with Iberico Pork and Seafood
Adding Iberico pork from Costco to ramen dishes makes them much more flavorful. I add it to Jjapaghetti for the kids and Jjamppong ramen with seafood for the adults. My sister always gives it a thumbs up, saying it's incredibly delicious.

British Lamb Chop - Be sure to try it with mint sauce.
When traveling in the UK, you see sheep more often than cows in the fields. My English conversation teacher used to say that she preferred lamb to beef. After coming to the UK and trying lamb, it's a whole new world.
Fresh lamb doesn't have any of the lamb smell at all.
It's more tender and savory than beef.

After trying lamb from several supermarkets, Waitrose lamb was the best. We usually buy it from our local Waitrose.
We coat the lamb with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and grill it after an hour.
Lamb is a great match with mint sauce!!!
It may be unfamiliar to Koreans, but in the UK, lamb is eaten with mint sauce. The savory lamb and tangy mint sauce go well together.

Tuna Kimchi Stir-fry and Braised Short Ribs (Galbi Jjim)
Tuna kimchi stir-fry, using canned tuna readily available at supermarkets, is another side dish that's easy to make in the UK. Try stir-frying it quickly when you want something to cut through the richness.

Bonne Maman Crème Brûlée
I bought chocolate desserts, ice cream, fruit jelly, crème brûlée, etc. from Waitrose and served them as dessert. I think the supermarket desserts in the UK are of good quality and delicious. They're as good as the ones sold in most dessert shops.

Sister Ordered Green Onion Kimchi (Pa-Kimchi) Again
My sister ate all of the green onion kimchi I made, so I made more for my mom, older sister, and brother-in-law who will be visiting later. As soon as she finished her trip to London, my sister took out the green onion kimchi from the refrigerator. 😅
It gets busy trying to feed a large family.

Yukgaejang Noodles Made with Beef Broth and Leftover Meat
I was too busy to take process photos, but I added leftover meat from the beef broth, chili powder, and chili oil to the beef broth and seasoned it.

Bean Sprout Soup Using Canned Bean Sprouts
When making bean sprout soup, try using canned bean sprouts from H Mart. Add the bean sprouts to boiling water, add two seafood broth coins, one piece of kelp, and green onions. Then, you can eat a delicious hangover-curing bean sprout soup.
