Hyun Katsu Myeongdong: A Soul-Satisfying Tonkatsu Experience!

Review of the day: Hyun Katsu Myeongdong
Payday means eating out~~~
Since my two male coworkers are always craving a good katsu, we finally decided to indulge in this comfort food. It was Hyun Katsu that made the experience so great!
Honestly, Hyun Katsu was the most satisfying tonkatsu I've had recently!
Here's my honest, personal review of Hyun Katsu in Myeongdong~~!!!
* Location and Hours
Hyun Katsu
260m from Myeongdong Station Exit 5
Hours: 11:00 - 21:00 (Last Order 20:00)
There's a post office building at the Myeongdong fountain intersection. I never knew! lol
The entrance to Hyun Katsu is right in front of the post office entrance. It's located in the basement.
If you misspell it as Heon Katsu, Hyun Katsu, or Heon Katsu, it will never show up on the map...ㅋㅋㅋ It's Hyun Katsu!
They have an outdoor menu board that you can see at the entrance.
The menu is simple and clean, and it's unique that the side dishes are fried items instead of soba or udon.
They must be confident in their튀김 (fried stuff)~~
Since I work near Hyun Katsu and we have an early lunch, there were only about 2 other groups when we arrived.
The interior has quite a few tables.
There wasn't a wait when I visited, but seeing this sign, it seems like this restaurant is often crowded.
This Spongebob aquarium is so cute.... I took a picture because I wanted it.
The menu inside is exactly the same as the outdoor menu.
I ordered the Tenderloin Katsu (Ansim Katsu).
There's a self-serve bar inside, so you can easily grab what you need.
Pickled radish and kimchi are served with the katsu!
I really loved that they had Himalayan pink salt and wasabi.... I immediately got some.
The sign said that tonkatsu takes about 15-20 minutes to fry after ordering, but it actually took about 10 minutes.
I was immediately impressed by the portion size ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I think this is the first time I've seen a place that gives you 2 rows of tenderloin..?
It also comes with rice, miso soup, tonkatsu sauce, kimchi, pickled radish, and cabbage.
Tonkatsu sauce and cabbage dressing are placed on the table, so you can pour it on according to your preference.
I was really impressed by the generous portion, and as soon as I picked up a piece, I could feel the heat. My mouth was watering...
Tenderloin can be really bad if it's dry, but this was soft and tender with just the right amount of firmness!
The katsu already had some seasoning, so dipping it in a little salt and putting a lot of wasabi on it was just amazing.
It's delicious because it's freshly fried, but the quality is also high, so I was really happy.
Each piece is a little small, but since there was so much, I didn't think I could eat it all, so I gave 2 pieces of my tenderloin to my coworker who ordered the loin katsu and traded it for half a piece.
It's a losing exchange, but it's less of a waste than leaving it, so whatever lol
My coworker ordered the Loin Katsu (Deungsim Katsu).
It's the same 180g as the tenderloin, but it seems like there's more tenderloin, but I'm not sure if it's just me being biased, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
The half piece of loin katsu that I took. The thickness is considerable.
But!?!??! It's just as soft as the tenderloin, seriously ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Originally, I prefer tenderloin because it's much softer, but here you can eat whatever you want that day without distinguishing between loin and tenderloin.
It felt like I had a really delicious Japanese tonkatsu for the first time in a while, so my payday happiness was doubled.
Next time I visit, I'm going to try the loin ㅎㅎㅎ
It's like a ray of light in the middle of Myeongdong, which is full of Chinese restaurants, so I highly recommend it to those looking for tonkatsu!!!!
