Heukdon Yeonga: Savory Jirisan Black Pork Near Sookmyung Women's University
Recently, our team has been so busy that we were all practically zombies.
Seeing us like that, our manager offered to treat us to a company dinner, haha.
I was looking for a place, and since everyone wanted to try somewhere new, I searched around Sookmyung Women's University Station and found a Korean BBQ place called 'Heukdon Yeonga'.
Being the meticulous person I am, I carefully read the reviews. It turns out it's a specialty restaurant for Jirisan black pork and is also famous for company dinners and wedding invitation gatherings.

1. 34 Years of Pride: The First Encounter with Jirisan Black Pork
I heard that this place is the only one in the Sookmyung Women's University and Namyeong area that serves Jirisan black pork.
We ordered black pork belly and 'steak' (pork neck) as the main dishes, and the quality of the meat looked excellent from the start.
They also served several side dishes, which were all great combinations to eat with the meat, which I appreciated!
The staff grills the meat for you, so you don't have to worry about burning it, and it's easy to have conversations. I guess that's why it's famous for wedding gatherings and company dinners.
They told us it was ready, so I tried it, and wow, it was amazing. Even though it's pork, it was so juicy, and the chewy yet tender texture was great.
The black pork belly was definitely the best pork belly I've ever had.
Next, I tried the black pork 'steak', or pork neck, which was also a delicacy.
I usually hesitate to order pork neck because I'm afraid it will be dry, but the pork neck here was incredibly tender!
Every time I chewed, juicy flavors burst out, and the savory flavor unique to black pork filled my mouth. I guess that's why they named it steak.
It's delicious on its own, but it tasted even better when I dipped it in the Chungcheong-do salted sand lance sauce!
2. At This Sookmyung Restaurant, 된장찌개 (Doenjang-jjigae) is a Must When Ordering Rice
But it doesn't end there.
If you order rice, they give you 된장찌개 (Doenjang-jjigae), a traditional soybean paste stew made with 100% beans, as a service!
Usually, the 된장찌개 (Doenjang-jjigae) at Korean BBQ places is just a side dish, but the 된장찌개 (Doenjang-jjigae) here had a rich and deep flavor that made me finish a whole bowl of rice.
While eating the black pork belly and 'steak', I cleansed my palate with this savory 된장찌개 (Doenjang-jjigae), which made me feel refreshed and reset.
There wasn't a single dish that wasn't delicious. I think this place is definitely one of the top Korean BBQ restaurants in the Sookmyung area...
3. A Space That Perfectly Covers From Wedding Invitation Gatherings to Group Company Dinners
20 of us visited, and since we had already picked out a room for our next company dinner, I carefully observed the interior space.
There are private rooms available, so you can have quiet and private gatherings.
It can accommodate up to 65 people, so it's perfect for large group company dinners.
While we were eating, there were people in suits having a wedding invitation gathering at the next table. The formal yet comfortable atmosphere seemed perfect for the gathering.
It's a 5-minute walk from the station, so it's easily accessible, and parking is available for up to 6 cars, which is convenient for those who drive.
4. The Perfect Ending to the Meal: Happiness with Refreshing Cold Noodles
After eating a lot of meat, you have to finish with refreshing cold noodles.
I ordered 물냉면 (mul-naengmyeon, cold noodles in chilled broth), and the broth with ice was so refreshing.
The refreshing taste that washed away the rich, greasy flavor of the black pork was fantastic.
The noodles were also perfectly chewy, and the texture was great. Eating it with the meat enhanced the flavor even more.
From the delicious meat to the hearty rice and cold noodle finish, it was a truly satisfying dinner.
5. Sookmyung Korean BBQ = The Best Korean BBQ in My Life
Through this visit, I added Heukdon Yeonga to our team's list of 'best Korean BBQ restaurants'.
I usually don't eat anything that's not delicious, but I can confidently recommend this place!
In particular, the deep flavor of Jirisan black pork is hard to experience elsewhere, which makes it even better.
I'll definitely choose this place for our next company dinner, and if you want to have a formal gathering, entertain important guests, or just reward yourself with delicious food, you won't regret choosing this Sookmyung Korean BBQ restaurant.
