Gyeongju Crab Dakgangjeong: The Perfect Snack in Hwangridan-gil!
If you're traveling to Gyeongju, Hwangridan-gil is a must-visit! This trendy street is filled with charming cafes, traditional Korean restaurants, and of course, delicious street snacks. Today, I want to introduce you to a unique treat you can only find in Gyeongju: Gyeongju Crab Dakgangjeong!
To be honest, I initially thought, "Isn't all Dakgangjeong (sweet and crispy Korean fried chicken) the same?" But the moment I took a bite, my mind completely changed. Crab and Dakgangjeong together? It's a match made in heaven!
I stumbled upon Gyeongju Crab Dakgangjeong while walking through Hwangridan-gil on a rainy day. The store's exterior is clean and modern, with a large crab logo on a black sign that's easily visible from afar. A prominent sign in front of the store advertises their BEST MENU, enticing passersby to stop.
The location is super convenient, right in the heart of Hwangridan-gil. They have a takeout window for easy ordering, and even on a rainy day, the place was buzzing with customers.

This time, I ordered the Half & Half Set (Medium). I'm so glad I did because I got to enjoy both the Crab Dakgangjeong and the Whole Shrimp Gangjeong!
The Crab Dakgangjeong features crispy fried chicken with savory crab meat, creating a unique and delicious flavor. Compared to regular Dakgangjeong, it has a deeper flavor, and the sauce isn't too strong, making it kid-friendly.
The Whole Shrimp Gangjeong has whole shrimp, giving it a great texture, and the sauce is perfectly balanced with sweetness and savory flavors. The shrimp is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, creating an explosion of flavor in your mouth.
As you can see from the photos, the presentation alone is enough to make your mouth water. And the taste? Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a sweet sauce – it was absolutely delicious!
Gyeongju Crab Dakgangjeong is perfect for a snack in Hwangridan-gil. We took it home to fully appreciate the aroma, appearance, and, of course, the taste.
This Gyeongju chicken restaurant is truly unique and delicious. I will definitely be buying it again on my next trip to Gyeongju. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gyeongju!
