Gopchelin: A G 곱창 Restaurant in Guri's Gopchang Alley!

Guri's Gopchang Alley is where I first discovered the amazing world of gopchang (Korean grilled small intestines) back in my school days!
Even now, whenever I crave gopchang, I often visit the area. I recently went to Gopchelin, a popular gopchang restaurant that has taken the place of the former Woori Duri Gopchang.
Apparently, they won an Excellence Award at the 2024 Guri Cosmos Festival Food Competition, so I had high expectations for how delicious it would be.

The sign was neat and eye-catching. It even had a bit of a hip vibe. I was especially excited because they supposedly have unique gopchang menus.
For parking, you can use the Guri Traditional Market public parking lot, which is less than a 5-minute walk away. They don't offer parking support, but the parking fees aren't too expensive, so it wasn't a burden.

With soju prices rising these days, Gopchelin is very affordable, making it perfect for enjoying a drink with gopchang! Plus, they're open until the early morning, so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
I arrived a little after opening time, and there were already people eating. The tables inside were arranged in two rows along the walls.
The round stainless steel tables reminded me of old-school Korean BBQ restaurants, adding to the authentic vibe. There was also storage under the chairs, which was convenient for storing bags.
Seeing the graffiti on the walls, I could tell that this place is popular.
Gopchelin has many unique menu items. The Sweet Potato Pizza Gopchang and Teriyaki Gopchang won the Excellence Award at the 2024 Cosmos Festival cooking competition! I wanted to try them, but I had pizza the day before, so I'll have to save it for next time.
Because I love garlic so much, I ordered one serving each of the Whole Garlic Vegetable Gopchang and Whole Garlic Gopchang.

I ordered one serving each of the Whole Garlic Vegetable Gopchang and Whole Garlic Gopchang, and I was amazed by the presentation! It was a feast for the eyes, especially for garlic lovers like me.
As soon as I ordered, they set up the side dishes, including soup and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) prepared for each person, and a complimentary can of cider.
Lettuce and various dipping sauces to enjoy with the gopchang were also served.
The soup tasted like Ottogi soup and even had small pieces of meat in it. It was perfect as a palate cleanser! I especially liked that they served an appetizer, as it's not common in restaurants these days.

When I ordered one serving each of the Whole Garlic Vegetable Gopchang and Whole Garlic Gopchang, I received a generous portion of gopchang, cabbage, and glass noodles. It was already cooked, so we turned off the gas and started eating! We're both not good with spicy food, so it's harder to eat when it's too hot, haha.
They mentioned that the garlic is fried before being added. No wonder the garlic was so soft and cooked perfectly, with a golden-brown exterior. It's a dish that garlic lovers will absolutely adore.
The gopchang was tender, chewy, and had no unpleasant smell, making it incredibly addictive.
They said it was about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, which was fine for me. But my sister thought it was spicy. If you're sensitive to spice, you can ask them to adjust the spiciness when ordering!

The glass noodles and rice cakes added great texture and made it more satisfying to enjoy with the gopchang.
You can also add extra toppings like rice cakes, glass noodles, or cheese if you like!
Eating the garlic and gopchang together is an amazing combination! The garlic is cooked until it has a potato-like texture and is not spicy, but the garlic flavor is still alive, making it a perfect complement to the gopchang.

It was so delicious that I bought an extra serving of Whole Garlic Gopchang to take home!
The essential dessert after gopchang: Fried Rice
Fried Rice (1 serving) ₩3,000
No matter how full I am, I can't resist fried rice. Not eating fried rice after gopchang is simply unimaginable.
When I ordered one serving of fried rice, they moved the remaining gopchang and garlic to one side and stir-fried the rice. From the owner's skillful movements, I could tell the fried rice would be delicious!

Eating the fried rice with the remaining gopchang and garlic was amazing!! I thought I was full, but I completely cleared the plate. If you're tired of eating the same old gopchang, try visiting Gopchelin in Guri's Gopchang Alley, which has unique menu items!
The portions were generous and delicious, and the fried rice was amazing. I enjoyed it so much that I got an extra order to bring home to my sister!
