This year's family trip was to Jeju Island!

Even though my daughters are total 'P's (referring to MBTI type, meaning they are spontaneous and not planners), we managed to visit all the restaurants we had planned to go to. ~~

If we accomplished this much, doesn't that make us pretty good at planning? ????

After a swim and shower, we headed to Tamnaneun Dosaegi in Gujwa for dinner.

Parking was easy right on the street in front of the restaurant. ✔️

Tamnaneun Dosaegi is known for its 'kkodeul moksal' (chewy pork neck), so that's what we ordered. ✔️✔️

We had an early dinner, but the restaurant got crowded as dinnertime approached.

People always seem to find the good restaurants, haha.

The side dishes were simple and light. ~

I dipped the onions generously in the soy sauce marinade. ~

Here comes the chewy pork neck! ????

Lots of meat and great visuals!!

Oh yeah! An egg찜 (steamed egg) came out as a complimentary side dish.

(But why don't I remember eating it?? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ)

Once the charcoal is lit and the grill heats up, it's time to set up our feast!

Grilling the fernbrake (gosari) that comes with the meal is the secret weapon, is it?????

Did you know?

If you crisp up the fernbrake until it's almost burnt, it tastes a bit like Jjapagetti and is super delicious. ^^ ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

Highly recommended ????????????

And when you come to Jeju Island, you absolutely have to eat the pork with *meljeot* (fermented anchovy sauce).

Then you can truly say, "Ah~~ I grilled some pork in Jeju!"

Tamnaneun Dosaegi's *meljeot* had a pretty strong fishy flavor, so personally, it wasn't my favorite. ㅠㅠ

Hanlasan soju was always on the table during our family trip, making its presence known ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

My dad said he couldn't resist having a drink with such great food, so he and my sibling shared some soju ~ ????ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Our cute little one has grown up so much that they even cheers with the adults now ㅠㅠ ????????????

The pork was chewy and springy.

Not gamey at all and seriously! Delicious ㅠㅠ

Grilling the pork with care!

Time to seriously eat some meat ????

I always have to add rice to my meat meal ㅎㅎ

A proper satisfying meal

Dipping it in *meljeot* and eating it

(Don't dip too much or it'll be too salty and fishy!)

For dessert, we ordered *mul-naengmyeon* (cold noodles in broth), *bibim-naengmyeon* (spicy cold noodles), and *doenjang-jjigae* (soybean paste stew) ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Since we don't know when we'll be back, we tried everything we could eat ^^

The *mul-naengmyeon* was delicious!

It had that sweet and tangy flavor of cold noodles I used to eat at 갈비 (galbi) restaurants when I was younger ~~~

The *bibim-naengmyeon* was good too.

This place makes good cold noodles ~~

(Rather than the kind you'd find at a *naengmyeon* restaurant, it's more like the kind you get as a dessert at a Korean BBQ place, but it was a really tasty version of that!!)

The *doenjang-jjigae* looked good, but it was a little under-seasoned??!!

So my mom added garlic and chili pepper and added more seasoning, and it got a bit better ????

Good choice for our first night's dinner!

The chewy pork neck was definitely my style and delicious ㅠㅠ

If I book accommodation near Gujwa next time, I'll come again!
