Special Moment

A few days ago, after a company business meeting, I visited a room-style restaurant near City Hall Station that's perfect for company dinners.

I want to share my experience of the Suragan course meal, which was incredibly well-prepared and delicious.

Bada Suragan Deoksugung Branch

Address: 4th Floor, 7 Deoksugung-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul

Hours: Monday-Friday 11:00-21:30 (Break Time 14:30-17:00, Last Order 20:00) / Closed Saturday-Sunday

This room-style restaurant near City Hall Station was conveniently located right in front of Exit 1 of City Hall Station.

The noticeable white sign made it easy to spot.

Upon arriving on the 4th floor, I was pleased with the spacious hall and sophisticated interior.

There were also seats with a great view of Deoksugung Palace, making it a good choice for important gatherings.

Private rooms were available for dining and having intimate conversations.

We had made a reservation in advance and were guided to a private room perfect for our company dinner.

The room-style restaurant near City Hall Station offered a wide variety of options, including lunch, meal sets, courses, and a la carte items.

We ordered the Suragan course, which was the most popular item.

Soon after, a generous and fresh spread was served.

Before even tasting it, we were already impressed.

First, we warmed our stomachs with porridge.

It was simple, savory, and the right amount for an appetizer.

Next, the herbal pork slices and chives salad were amazing.

The combination of nutritious herbal ingredients and seasoning eliminated any unwanted smells.

The pork slices were cut into bite-sized pieces, making them easy to eat.

The refreshing and spicy seasoning of the chives salad helped balance the richness of the pork.

The grilled butter shrimp on the iron plate had the best flavor with the combination of the plump shrimp and savory garlic.

It neutralized the seafood scent with a savory taste.

The Gaimono platter included oysters, ark shells, and sea squirts.

It was fresh with the scent of the sea, chewy, and slightly bitter.

The slightly salty oysters melted softly in my mouth.

Adding chili peppers made it spicy and crunchy.

Next, I tried the sashimi, which boasted beautiful colors and textures.

It was fun to alternate between the soft and chewy sashimi and sea bream.

The sashimi was sliced generously.

It was so fresh that it tasted great with just soy sauce.

The mustard leaf pickle wasn't just a side dish, but an important element for wrapping the sashimi.

Its unique and refreshing flavor made it enjoyable even for those new to seafood.

I took a bite of the sashimi and mustard leaf pickle.

Adding wasabi added spiciness and further enhanced the flavor.

The fried crab with sweet and sour sauce was made with crispy fried crab shells and sweet and sour sauce.

The moist tenderness of the crab meat inside provided an intense savory flavor.

I also ate a large piece of kimchi pancake, which is a favorite.

It stayed warm and crispy, which was my style.

The moist kimchi flavor cleansed the seafood I had eaten earlier.

The balance of spiciness and savory flavor was perfect, making it great as a snack.

I also tried the three-piece fried series, and I was pleased that all the batter was thin.

The ginseng, perilla leaf, and enoki mushrooms were made into crispy and chewy fries that kept me coming back for more.

The braised mackerel with aged kimchi was a menu item that made me want to eat a spoonful of rice.

The mackerel was very tender and had no fishy smell.

The savory taste of the aged kimchi and mackerel was a rice thief.

There was a reason why they served it as the final course.

The rice and cool bean sprout and dried pollack soup were perfect for cleansing the palate.

I finished the non-irritating, clear broth, and relieved my disappointment.

I highly recommend this room-style restaurant near City Hall Station for company dinners.
