Donmiam: Your Go-To Samgyeopsal Spot in Okgye, Gumi
Looking for a great Samgyeopsal (Korean BBQ) experience in Okgye? I've got you covered! Today, I'm reviewing Donmiam, a restaurant that hits all the right notes: clean and tidy, they grill the meat for you, and most importantly, it's delicious!
Location: 1st Floor, 102, 20-14, Sanho-daero 29gil, Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk
Hours: Weekdays 5:00 PM - 12:00 AM / Weekends 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Parking can be a bit tricky, with space for only one or two cars in front of the restaurant. I recommend using the paid parking lot right next door for convenience.
Interior
Inside, you'll find about 6-7 tables, each comfortably seating up to 6 people.
They also have high chairs available, which explains why I saw so many families with young children during my visit.
Menu Recommendation
Each table has a mini kiosk for easy ordering.
If you're wondering why it's so popular with families, take a look at the menu! They offer a complimentary baby rice meal served on a Mickey Mouse plate. I saw several kids happily enjoying it while I was there.
I've visited Donmiam twice now, and both times I opted for ordering Samgyeopsal a la carte rather than the set menu. I highly recommend focusing on the Samgyeopsal!
Side Dishes & Setting
The side dishes are presented neatly and tastefully!
They offer 9 different dipping sauces, kimchi, pickled 명이나물 (perilla leaves), pickled radish wraps, seasoned green onion salad, steamed egg, and more.
One of the best things about Donmiam is the generous portion of seasoned green onion salad! Other places give you such a small amount that you have to keep asking for refills. Here, they give you a big pile from the start, so you can enjoy it to your heart's content.
Meat Time!
We ordered 3 servings of Samgyeopsal. It came with shishito peppers, green onions, and mushrooms.
The staff takes care of setting up the grill and cooking the meat for you, so all you have to do is sit back and wait!
They also grill 백김치 (white kimchi) alongside the pork. It's a real treat, so be sure to try it!
Just look at those beautifully grilled Samgyeopsal pieces... Makes you drool!
Wrapping it in 명이나물 (perilla leaves) is heavenly. The meat quality is excellent.
As a bonus, we also tried the 물냉면 (mul-naengmyeon, cold noodles) and 짜파게티 (jjapagetti, Korean instant black bean noodles). Surprisingly, the jjapagetti was so delicious that I devoured it... Highly recommended! 👍
