Recommended Chuncheon Sundae Soup Restaurant
Hello, this is Chobabi.
Today, I would like to introduce a popular restaurant located in Hyoja-dong, Chuncheon!
It’s called 'NamBu Sundae Soup'.
This place recently gained fame after being featured on a popular show, and it has become well-known as a recommended spot by actor Ha Jung-woo.
He praised the sundae soup, making it a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious food in Chuncheon.
I had tried takeout from here before, but I wanted to experience the authentic taste after the show's airing.
So, I quickly decided to visit.
Let’s dive into my detailed review of 'NamBu Sundae Soup'.
Business Hours: 09:00 - 21:00
Closed on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month
Break Time: 14:30 - 16:30
After the airing of the show, I heard there were long waits, so I decided to visit early on a weekday.
Upon arrival, I noticed a large banner from the show hanging outside, which was a new addition since my last visit.
The restaurant is located between the National Living Hall in Hyoja-dong and New World, making it easy to find.
Parking is available in the designated area in front of the restaurant, but it can be a bit tight. If the parking lot is full, there are alleyways nearby where you can park.
Fortunately, since I arrived early, there was no wait, although I often saw long lines when passing by.
The restaurant's atmosphere is clean and well-maintained, with a mix of small and larger dining areas.
We were seated in a cozy small room, and despite the traditional appearance from the outside, the interior was quite modern.
As soon as we sat down, we scanned the menu and ordered two bowls of sundae soup without hesitation.
Although the show featured boiled pork as well, I decided to skip it this time since it was early in the day.
Upon ordering, the side dishes were quickly served, including radish kimchi and napa cabbage kimchi. The kimchi was a bit underwhelming, but the radish was delicious.
After a short wait, the sundae soup finally arrived, looking just as it did on TV, with a rich bone broth that was visually appealing.
Even though it was a standard size, it was quite hearty and came with a bowl of rice.
As I tasted the broth, I realized it had a mild flavor, which might not suit those who prefer spicier dishes. Adjusting the seasoning to your taste is essential here.
I followed Ha Jung-woo's advice from the show, adding a generous amount of perilla powder and shrimp sauce to enhance the flavor.
After mixing everything well, I started to enjoy the sundae soup, which was incredibly satisfying.
The experience was delightful, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the white sundae soup was.
In conclusion, I recommend visiting 'NamBu Sundae Soup' for a unique take on this classic dish.
