Discovering a Healthy Korean Dining Experience at Borisuri

As I age, I've started to prefer comforting Korean meals over places where I can eat a lot at once. This has led me to frequently seek out barley rice restaurants, especially since my husband loves barley rice.
This time, we visited Borisuri located in Geumjeong-dong, Gunpo. It's a perfect spot for enjoying a clean and tidy Korean meal, making it a great choice for family outings or dining with parents.
Borisuri is conveniently located in front of the Geumjeong-dong Administrative Welfare Center, and the atmosphere around the restaurant felt pleasant. Even before dinner time, there were already quite a few customers, indicating it’s a popular spot among locals.
The restaurant has a banner displaying the menu at the entrance, and the table spacing is just right. There’s a self-service corner for refilling side dishes, which is a nice touch.
We ordered a barley rice set for two. When ordering, you can choose between garlic boiled chicken or stir-fried pork. I opted for the stir-fried pork.
After a short wait, we were served a generous array of side dishes! The variety of vegetables served with the barley rice was delightful, and the accompanying soybean paste stew gave it a comforting home-cooked feel.
The side dishes came beautifully arranged on a platter with dipping sauce, and I appreciated that they weren't overly seasoned, allowing me to enjoy them throughout the meal. The freshness of the vegetables made it feel like a healthy dining experience.
On one side, we had meat, potato pancakes, and seasoned burdock. The warm potato pancakes were especially enjoyable, perfectly seasoned without needing any soy sauce.
The barley rice, mixed with some vegetables and a hint of gochujang (Korean chili paste), was truly delicious. The assortment of bean sprouts, radish salad, and spinach was neatly presented, and the added aroma of sesame oil was delightful.
The soybean paste stew was rich yet not too salty, complementing the barley rice perfectly. The combination of fluffy barley rice with the stew is something everyone can appreciate.
They kindly suggested enjoying the potato pancakes while they were still warm, which I found impressive. I was particularly captivated by the young radish kimchi filled with barley rice, and I couldn't resist refilling my portion. I wanted to replicate the taste at home but realized I couldn't match it, so I held back.
If you're looking for a good restaurant in Geumjeong-dong, I highly recommend Borisu. It's a great place to enjoy a healthy Korean meal, especially when you're tired of overly spicy foods. The atmosphere is perfect for family gatherings rather than solo dining.
Overall, I appreciated the variety of side dishes, the healthy barley rice set, and the home-style cooking that isn't overly stimulating. If you're searching for a Korean restaurant in Geumjeong-dong, consider visiting Borisuri for a satisfying and healthy meal.
