Dining Experience at Salt House in Jeju

We booked accommodation near the Jungmun Tourist Complex.
Since we had a child with us, we wanted to have dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Fortunately, we found a place called Salt House just a 4-minute walk away,
which had good reviews among the restaurants in the Jeju Jungmun Tourist Complex.
Location and Basic Information
Salt House Jeju Black Pork Jungmun Branch
Location: 1st Floor, 86 Jungmun-ro, Seogwipo, Jeju
Operating Hours: Daily 11:30 AM - 11:30 PM (Last order at 10:30 PM)
Parking: Available
This place specializes in black pork grilled over barley straw fire.
It's only a 5-minute drive from the color Dal Beach,
making it a convenient stop during our trip.
Spacious Parking Lot
Parking has always been a challenge when visiting restaurants,
but here, there was a large parking lot that could accommodate over 70 cars right in front of the restaurant.
The restaurant was clean and spacious,
capable of seating more than 100 guests comfortably.
There are also private rooms, making it suitable for family gatherings or large groups.
50% Discount on Meat
Looking at the menu, they offered thick black pork grilled over barley straw,
along with various cuts like galbi and pork belly.
They only use premium quality ingredients sourced from Jeju.
The meal options included cold buckwheat noodles and black pork kimchi stew, priced at 8,000 won.
When we entered, we noticed a banner advertising a 50% discount,
and found out that writing a review would grant discounts on all meat dishes.
With the discount, black pork was 38,000 won for 600g,
and special cuts were 19,000 won for 300g.
We ordered 600g of black pork, along with cold buckwheat noodles and kimchi stew.
Whenever we needed more side dishes,
we could easily use the self-service bar, which was convenient.
The high chair provided for our child was also practical.
Pre-cooked Black Pork
The black pork here is not just sold as is; it undergoes low-temperature aging followed by pre-cooking.
During pre-cooking, the pork is infused with flavor from the barley straw fire while removing any unpleasant odors.
The expert grilling ensures that the outside doesn’t burn excessively,
allowing us to finish cooking it at the table without it getting charred.
We had to grill the pre-cooked pork belly and neck ourselves,
using charcoal made from coffee trees, which produced less smoke and provided stable heat.
The side dishes included seasoned green onion, radish salad,
fermented fernbrake, aged kimchi, and various sauces.
The seasoned fernbrake was crunchy and sweet-sour,
pairing well with the pork.
The aged kimchi and seasoned green onion complemented the richness of the black pork,
making them essential additions to the meal.
The pork belly itself was juicy enough to enjoy on its own,
and the dipping sauce added a savory touch.
The sauce was not overly fishy and enhanced the flavor of the pork.
Kimchi Stew That Steals the Show
The black pork kimchi stew was hearty,
making it perfect for mixing with rice.
Unlike grilled dishes, the broth was rich and tangy.
The cold buckwheat noodles paired well with the black pork,
making for a refreshing meal.
We enjoyed high-quality black pork at a reasonable price,
and for those looking for a nice dining atmosphere with family near the Jungmun Tourist Complex,
Salt House is definitely worth a visit.
