Conquering Gildong Udon Yeoncheon Jeongok: A Cool Summer Escape with a Cheese Bomb Collaboration!

Hello, fellow wanderers always on the lookout for great eats!
Today's restaurant is located in my stomping ground: Yeoncheon!
I was wondering what to have for lunch when I spotted a bright yellow sign that screamed, 'You HAVE to try this!' It was Gildong Udon Yeoncheon Jeongok!
Cute colleague's V sign
✨ A Tempting Yellow Hue Appears in Yeoncheon Jeongok!
The exterior was already eye-catching. The yellow sign sparkled under the sunlight, as if whispering, 'Come on in, I'll fill your belly.' A menu banner stood by the entrance, and wow, there were so many choices!
You know that feeling? When there are too many items on the menu, you get suspicious.
Or is that just me? Oh well, this is my blog after all. lol
Anyway, real hidden gems usually have only a few things on the menu... Udon, noodles, rice dishes, pork cutlets, fried foods... Let's just give it a try!
???? Attentive Service,
Makes You Feel Good From the Start!
As I entered the restaurant, I could tell it was newly opened.
The clean and modern interior welcomed me. Ordering was easy with the kiosk, and I could freely grab radish pickles, kimchi, and other sides from the self-service corner.
With so many options, they all looked delicious...
After much deliberation, our group ordered four dishes:
* The Ultimate in Coolness: Black Rice Buckwheat Noodle Set
* A Visual Shock of Flowing Cheese: Cheese Pork Cutlet
* The Spicy and Tangy Allure: Bibim Guksu (Spicy Mixed Noodles)
* The Chewy Texture Champion: Jjolmyeon (Spicy Chewy Noodles)
Now, let the Gildong Udon conquest begin!
???? Coolness Reaching to Space,
Black Rice Buckwheat Noodle Set!
First up was the Black Rice Buckwheat Noodle Set, perfect for chasing away summer sweat. The neatly stacked black rice buckwheat noodles sat on a bright yellow wooden tray! The glistening noodles made my mouth water. The dipping sauce was filled with icy shards, as if shouting, 'I'm super cold!'
I gently picked up some noodles, dipped them generously in the sauce, and took a big bite. Ah! Coolness spread from my tongue to the top of my head! The nutty aroma unique to black rice buckwheat filled my mouth – it was fantastic.
Cute mini pork cutlet
The mini pork cutlet included in the set created the perfect harmony of 'cold' and 'warm.' On such a hot day, black rice buckwheat noodles are not an option, they're a must! everyone!
???? Fainting from the Cheese Waterfall!
Cheese Pork Cutlet
Next up was the Cheese Pork Cutlet, which made me question my own eyes.
As soon as I cut into the freshly fried, crispy pork cutlet with scissors... a waterfall of cheese poured out.
I was speechless for a moment at the unstoppable flow of cheese. The stretching cheese was practically a work of art.
The combination of the crispy breading, moist meat, and chewy cheese was a total 'cheat code'! Dipping it in the sweet sauce created an explosion of crispiness, nuttiness, saltiness, and sweetness – a party in my mouth.
Cheese Pork Cutlet... be my comrade! ☠️
????️ A Spicy Temptation,
Bibim Guksu & Jjolmyeon
Finally, our group's spicy contenders arrived: Bibim Guksu and Jjolmyeon. The red sauce made my salivary glands explode just by looking at it! A halved boiled egg was prettily placed in the center.
The Bibim Guksu's spicy and tangy sauce and crunchy bean sprouts went well together, making it a dish you just keep reaching for.
The Jjolmyeon's chewy noodles were simply artistic. The Bibim Guksu and Jjolmyeon had a pleasant spiciness that even 'mild spice lovers' could enjoy, making them flavors that everyone would love. If you prefer spicy food, I highly recommend them!
