Dreamlike moment

Last weekend, I visited Cheonggye Dak Hanmari, a restaurant famous for its lunch menu near Sindang Station, for a casual company dinner with my colleagues.

I'd like to spread the word about this place, as we enjoyed the spacious interior and the deep, rich flavors of the Korean dishes.

Address: 28, Toegye-ro 76-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, 1st and 2nd floor

Cheonggye Dak Hanmari, which I visited, was located near Sindang Station on the subway line. The dark brown sign with the restaurant's name largely displayed made it easy to find, even though it was my first time there.

The menu was displayed in front of the entrance, so I quickly checked it out. It was well-organized, and the lunch specials were reasonably priced, so I made my choices and went inside.

The interior of this Sindang Station lunch restaurant was clean and spacious. It was set up with wooden-toned square tables, and the floors and walls were clean, so everyone in my party, including me, who is sensitive to hygiene, was happy to be seated.

With two floors, it was the perfect place for a company dinner with colleagues. It was large and private, and the modern interior made me feel like it was worth the trip.

After sitting down, I scanned the menu. After about 5 minutes of deliberation, we ordered a variety of dishes, including Spicy Pork Rice Set (Gohyang Jeyuk Ssambap) for one, Spicy Stir-fried Squid, Chicken Gomtang (Chicken Bone Soup), and Chicken Noodle Soup (Dak Kalguksu).

While we were chatting, side dishes and menu items were brought to our table one by one. First of all, it was plentiful, and the smell was fragrant. The table was so full that I couldn't help but applaud.

The Spicy Pork and Stir-fried Squid were mixed together for a single serving. It had a spicy aroma, and the various vegetables added a crunchy texture.

I put white rice and stir-fry on top of lettuce and put it in my mouth. The spicy taste was subtle, but the soft texture and spicy flavor permeated my tongue, so I stopped talking and continued to eat.

The Chicken Gomtang was also a delicacy. I mixed the well-cooked broth with glass noodles and kimchi and ate it. The diverse flavors and textures made me keep spooning it up.

The noodles were well-soaked in the broth, but they were chewy and not overcooked, so the texture was good, and the kimchi, which was not too ripe, was crunchy and had a moderate spiciness, playing the role of a masterpiece supporting actor.

We added the Dak Hanmari (Chicken Hot Pot) (small), Acorn Jelly Salad, and Kimchi Pancake to our order. It was our first company dinner in a while, so we overate. Dak Hanmari is a dish that can be cooked and eaten on the spot, so it was nice to be able to eat it warm.

As you can see, this Sindang Station lunch restaurant carefully prepares each sauce. If you add seasoned radish to the chives and mix well, the addiction becomes even stronger.

After eating to some extent, you can add noodles and enjoy it as a second course. First of all, the salinity of the soup was not strong, so even if you added ingredients without stopping, the seasoning was just right.

The chicken had a good texture without any fishy taste. The rice cakes and green onions, which had absorbed enough of the broth, were enjoyed by everyone without any dislikes.

Isn't chicken thigh meat always a favorite? It was so soft and melt-in-your-mouth that I could only focus on eating.

It's good to eat it as is, but try enjoying it with chives seasoned with sauce. It was crunchy, fragrant, and had a slight sourness, which made my appetite even more.

This is the Herbal Chicken Soup (Hanbang Samgyetang) from Sindang Station Lunch Restaurant, which had a hint of herbal medicine. It was served hot in an earthenware pot, and the broth was clean with plenty of green onions.

One of the great advantages of this Sindang Station lunch restaurant is that you can enjoy the menu in a variety of ways. I could see why it was the perfect place for lunch or a company dinner.

After eating a certain amount of the soup, it was time to taste the knife-cut noodles and egg porridge.

In fact, it's a delicacy, and if you eat it with kimchi and radish after cooking, the savory taste explodes and you continue eating without stopping.

This is a large, fluffy, soft rolled omelet. It's served thick, and you can feel the generous heart of the owner with its plentiful texture.

There were many vegetables between the eggs, so the texture was crunchy. I dipped it in plenty of ketchup and tasted it, and the sweetness and sourness were added, which sniped my taste.

This is Acorn Jelly Salad with a subtle nutty flavor. It's one of my personal favorite menus, and it contains fresh vegetables such as carrots, peppers, and onions.

The crunchiness of the cucumber and the chewiness of the acorn jelly went so well together. The vegetables weren't too wilted, and it seemed like they were mixed right after ordering, and the seasoning was just right, so it wasn't a burden on my stomach.

This is the Kimchi Pancake from Sindang Station Lunch Restaurant. The outside was crispy and the inside was moist, and the kimchi was cooked to the right degree, so I immediately thought of makgeolli (Korean rice wine) as soon as I took a bite.
